Springboro company's subsidiary tackles airport security projects

Quatrotec Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alien Technology Corp., which has Springboro offices, on Wednesday said it is working on or has completed projects at 28 U.S. airports for security systems, passenger checkpoints, and baggage and air cargo screening systems.

Quatrotec's major projects are with the Department of Homeland Security and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and total over $12 million over the past 12 months, the company said in a statement. Quatrotec said it is the first company in the United States to design and build a "100 percent end-to-end explosive detection screening system for air cargo."

Extras

TSA projects include:

• "Reduced size explosive detection screening systems" at 22 airports across the country.

• Lobby, ticket counter and screening area renovations.

• Security enhancements for baggage handling systems.

Founded in 1994, Alien Technology has a Radio Frequency Identification Solutions Center on West Tech Boulevard. It is a technology and product provider of UHF RFID integrated circuits, tags, readers and professional services.
