LexisNexis sponsors volunteer legal group
Thursday, July 17, 2008
LexisNexis has become a sponsor of Pro Bono Net, a national nonprofit organization that works to increase access to volunteer legal representation, the company said Wednesday, July 16.
During the past decade, Pro Bono Net has created a network of nonprofit legal aid providers, courts and bar associations across the United States, LexisNexis said in its announcement. This network uses two platforms — www.probono.net and www.lawhelp.org — to recruit and support volunteer lawyers and to provide information and tools for low-income people facing legal issues. Probono.net is the online resource for lawyers while lawhelp.org offers state-based legal referrals, rights information and self-help tools, the company said.
LexisNexis, a provider of business information systems and programs, has about 3,000 employees at its Miami Twp. campus off Ohio 741.
