Rex Stores reports smaller 2Q profits

HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — Rex Stores Corp., a specialty retailer and alternative-energy investment company, said Tuesday, Sept. 9, that its second-quarter profits shrank while sales climbed compared to a year ago.
For the quarter ended July 31, Rex reported net income of $1.2 million, or 11 cents per share, compared with net income of $5.8 million, or 48 cents per share, during the year-ago quarter. Total sales and revenue for the quarter was $67.4 million, versus $47.9 million a year ago.
Company executives will discuss the second-quarter performance with financial analysts during a conference call slated for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9.
