Evenflo opens new headquarters

MIAMISBURG — Evenflo Co. Inc. has called 225 Byers Road home since May.
Wednesday Sept. 24 was the day for company leaders and employees — and a few others — to celebrate that fact.
Rob Matteucci, Evenflo chief executive, Lee Fisher, Ohio lieutenant governor, and others were on hand to cut the ribbon at the new, 62,000-square-foot headquarters.
Last December, the manufacturer of baby products announced that it would move its world headquarters and 150 jobs from Vandalia to the former corporate home of Huffy. Evenflo maintains a 12,000-square-foot testing facility in Piqua, which the company opened in May 2006. (Evenflo's Piqua manufacturing site opened in 1974.)
The move not only puts Evenflo two quick turns from Interstate 75's Dayton Mall exit, it also puts the company's base near the planned Austin Pike interchange with I-75. Matteucci noted that the company completed an addition to the new offices just last week, putting an additional 11,000 square feet on the building.
"We think this is great for Miamisburg, greater Dayton, Ohio and certainly Evenflo," Matteucci said.
Keith Johnson, Miamisburg development director, wasn't about to disagree. In recent weeks, city officials have said Moraine manufacturer Kurz-Kasch has considered another site on Byers Road to consolidate its own operations. That move would put an additional 200 jobs in Miamisburg.
"We've been busy," a smiling Johnson said Wednesday. "We've been lucky."
Johnson said businesses check out Miamisburg because it offers a "building supply in a growing area."
The 88-year-old company makes baby products and child car seats, strollers, high chairs and more. The privately held company has 1,300 employees total.
