Monday, October 13, 2008
Alien Technology, a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology provider with a Springboro solutions center, said Arizon RFID Technology (Yangzhou) Co., will make Alien components for the Chinese market.
"Arizon has one of the world's largest RFID manufacturing facilities and is well positioned to service the dynamic Chinese market," Alien said Monday Oct. 13.
Alien has a range of RFID readers certified for use in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand, the company said.
RFID uses tags or chips that can wirelessly identify anything from luggage to retail parcels to pharmaceuticals. RFID backers say the technology offers greater information, speed and ease of use than conventional bar codes.
Arizon is based in Yangzhou, China.
Founded in 1994 and based in Morgan Hill, Calif., Alien has a "solutions center" off Ohio 741 with about 25 employees. RFID is a $5.3 billion industry this year, 11 percent bigger than in 2007, said George Everhart, Alien's chief executive. He has predicted that RFID will be a $9.7 billion industry in 2013. Alien itself is growing 100 percent a year, he has said.
