Sonic lowers boom on White Castle, adding more restaurants

What is your favorite fast-food restaurant?

Sonic is poised to open its tenth Dayton-area restaurant later this year in Xenia and will add three more in the coming months in Eaton, West Carrollton and Kettering, according to Rick Fee, who oversees the restaurant chain's local franchises.

Crews this week began demolishing the former White Castle restaurant at 2890 Wilmington Pike in Kettering, paving the way for a Sonic to open at the site in January or February, Fee said.

The Xenia Sonic drive-in will open shortly after Thanksgiving at 1956 Harner Drive, Fee said. It will employ 40 to 50 people. A Sonic at 1719 N. Barron St. in Eaton will open in December, to be followed by a West Carrollton restaurant scheduled to open in January at 801 E. Dixie Drive, Fee said.

Fee, who serves as director of operations for Bowling Green, Ky.-based Houchens Industries, said his company's agreement with Oklahoma City-based Sonic calls for the Dayton area to have 29 Sonic drive-in restaurants within four years.

Sonic is not that great, I would kill for a White Castle here in Colorado, the closest used to be in Kansas City, but those went under a few years ago, now the farthest west they have any are in St. Louis……And that location on Wilmington with the Church’s chicken was the best, I could eat myself to death in that area, with White Castle, Skyline, Frisch’s and LaRosa’s….Remember when the Ontario and Fazio’s stores were there and with the old school McDonald’s across the street being the only

The passing of the Wilmington White Castle is truly a loss. Sliders and Chicken drumsticks washed down with a Coke made for a wonderful meal!!

Dog poop on a stale bun is better than McDonalds. Even when it’s been sitting in the yard

Does Chipotle count as fast food? If so thats mine, I have to eat it once a week or I go crazy. If it doesn’t count, then probably McDonalds.

They can tear the building down and construct another in the same place. But, NOTHING CAN REPLACE WHITE CASTLE !! I hate to see my favorite quadrangle broken up here in Kettering (White Castle, Skyline, Frisch’s, & LaRosa’s). There’s nothing like a White Castle, all,you can eat feast night. After all, Ohio is home to White Castle Hdqtrs (Columbus) !! I’ve seen nothing of Sonic to compete.

For fast food I always choose Sonic over the other major chains, and you can’t beat their Cherry Limeades! I ate White Castle once; it is disgusting and the burgers smell like the southern end of a northbound cow, so I’m not sorry to see it go.

I enjoy Sonic, but I don’t consider it to be one of the best places out there. It’s simply a good restaurant that has been hyped up to a point that everyone thinks they just HAVE to eat there.

We love Sonics burgers and their onion rings are the very best!!!! We are on a diet and just eat there as a treat. A little fast food once in a while hasn’t kept us from losing weight and lowering our cholestral. Just be sensible and don’t eat it everyday as most people do. We also hope to see a Sonic in Lebanon in the near future. We need one as the other fast food restaurants here are dirty ,serve cold food that has been prepared at least an hour before. Their Help looks undesirable, too.

I love sonic I hope they open one in Lebanon. And for those who do not want fast fatting food, well they can go and get a salad sprayed with chimcals on it somewhere else.

I think Sonic sucks!! The new one that opened in Celina always has a wait and then the food arrives cold!! Also those commercials are so annoying….
