Excellence in Motivation lays off 34 employees
Wednesday, November 26, 2008
DAYTON — Excellence in Motivation, a provider of employee incentive programs for Fortune 500 companies, has laid off 34 of its approximately 250 employees in recent weeks.
They are the first layoffs at the company since it was founded 15 years ago, Bob Miller, president and chief executive officer, said Wednesday, Nov. 26.
A client's cancellation of a 2009 travel-reward program for employees prompted the layoffs of travel management professionals and support staff, Miller said.
Those losing their jobs were entitled to severance pay, health insurance coverage for at least a month, and help in finding new jobs, he said.
Toyota, AT&T Inc., Verizon, Burger King, DirecTV, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Reynolds and Reynolds are among the companies that Excellence in Motivation serves, Miller said.
Prior to the layoffs, EIM had approximately 210 employees in Dayton, with the remaining 40 or so in sales offices around the country. Its headquarters is in the National City Center at 6 N. Main St. in downtown Dayton.
