New driving school opens in Dayton

DAYTON — The Ohio Driving Academy will begin offering classes at its new Dayton location, 803 E. Fifth St., Suite C, on Sept. 2, according to owner Chip Daly.
After retiring from the Dayton Police Department, Daly, also a former truck driver, decided to open the school because he was not satisfied with current driving instruction.
"This industry is run really bad, there's a lot of flaws and missed opportunities," he said.
Daly created the curriculum himself, based on the AAA driving system, and was approved by the Department of Public Safety. There are six employees between the Tipp City and Dayton locations of the school.
The cost of the course is $400, which includes 24 hours of class instruction and eight hours of in-car driving instruction. The school will offer two classes daily, five days a week, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm and 7:45 - 9:45 pm. The front office will be open from 10 am - 6 pm.
