Alliance’s Tony makes ATL debut
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Alliance Theatre fans who only got to see the Midtown arts institution’s prized Tony Award during an all too brief appearance on the Sunday night telecast on CBS will get a better gander Wednesday. At 10 a.m., the Tony Award will make its local debut with an official arrival ceremony at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Alliance reps tell us that “local residents are encouraged to join the celebration.” The award’s arrival in the Main Galleria, with a reception to follow in the Memorial Arts Building, is free and open to the public.
Our big question? Will Alliance artistic director Susan Booth grace us all with an in-person glimpse of her fab Tony frock furnished by Celebrity on Paces in Buckhead?
AUTHOR OATES ON THE WAY TO ATL
Anticipating an onslaught of author Joyce Carol Oates’ loyal readers, organizers at the Margaret Mitchell House have wisely scheduled her lecture and book-signing Monday night at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead. Oates is on tour promoting her intriguing new novel, “The Gravedigger’s Daughter,” which details an immigrant family desperate to escape the Nazis in 1936 Germany. We’re told that some seats remain for the event, but fans must reserve a spot.

COUPLING: PRETTY WEDDING IN PUERTO RICO
Actress Ana Ortiz (right), who plays the older sister of the title character in ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” married musician Noah Lebenzon in a weekend ceremony.
Ortiz, 36, wore a white lace gown at Saturday’s ceremony, which took place in an ocean-view dining room of the Horned Dorset Primavera Hotel in Rincon, Puerto Rico, on the island’s west coast, said manager Wilhelm Sack.
Among the 80 guests were Ortiz’s colleagues in the “Ugly Betty” cast, including star America Ferrera.
“I would call it a mixture between Hollywood and Puerto Rico,” Sack said. “It was very glamorous.”
Ortiz was honored for her role in the series with the best supporting actress award at the 2007 ALMA Awards, dedicated to achievements by Hispanic artists. Lebenzon, 37, is a guitarist for the rock group Everything Is Energy.
