Culture Works sets $1.6 million goal
Culture Works, the Dayton area’s united arts fund, launched its 36th annual campaign Thursday, Jan 27, with a breakfast rally at the Schuster Performing Arts Center.
The goal is to raise $1.6 million by June 30.
Campaign chairs are Amber Garwood, vice president of communications and government affairs for NewPage Corp., and Steve Budd, president of Citywide Development Corp.
Culture works Interim president and CEO Kathy Hollingsworth said the drive has collected $600,000 with leadership contributions from MeadWestvaco Corp., Cox Ohio Media Group, NewPage, Time Warner Cable and others.
A $100,000 challenge grant from the Harry A. Toulmin Jr. and Virginia B. Toulmin Fund of the Dayton Foundation is also in play. The grant will apply during the 2011 campaign, matching each each additional dollar raised over past campaigns.
