Culture Works finds director in Seattle

Martine Meredith Collier, currently the director of development and membership for Grantmakers in the Arts in Seattle, has been named as the new president and chief executive of Culture Works.

The Dayton area’s united arts fund announced the hiring on Tuesday, March 29, and said she would begin work on May 9.

Kathy Hollingsworth has served as interim director of Culture Works since Denise Rehg stepped down in 2010. A search for a permanent leader was launched in August.

The Culture Works search committee was impressed by Collier’s “balance of fundraising, marketing and management experience, collaborative nature and sincere enthusiasm.”

She previously served as executive director of the Sarasota (Fla.) County Arts Council.

Collier received a bachelor of fine arts in theater from the University of Memphis and a master of arts in arts administration from Goucher College in Baltimore..
