McCray fails to sign; Bengals ink another defensive end
Representative from Rosenhaus Sports confirmed today that their client Bobby McCray did not sign after taking a scheduled flight to meet with the team on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Instead, the team signed free agent defensive end Victor Adeyanju and placed DE Jonathan Fanene on the Reserve/Injured list, ending his season.
Adeyanju (6-4, 284) played the last four seasons (2006-09) for the St. Louis Rams, seeing action in 53 games with 26 starts. He has 178 career tackles with three sacks. He has four fumble recoveries and one touchdown, on an 89-yard fumble return. He was with the Rams in the 2010 preseason and was released on Sept. 4. He was a fourth-round draft choice of the Rams in 2006.
Fanene has been inactive since suffering a hamstring injury on Oct. 24 at Atlanta. Also limited earlier in the season with hamstring problems, Fanene played in only two games, with four tackles. He played in every game with two starts in 2009.
