a literary MySpace?
It is being hailed as a “literary MySpace.” Based in San Francisco, RedRoom.com offers users the opportunity to “read the latest author blogs, watch author interviews and other exciting videos, listen to author podcasts.”
Does that sound like something you might wish to check out? RedRoom.com just sent out a press release announcing that Barack Obama has joined the site as an author. As the saying goes, timing is everything.
Here’s a link to the RedRoom website: click here.
Did you check out their website? They have amassed quite a bit of content. It appears that they have substantial financial backing for their endeavor.
What do you think? Is this the sort of thing that will attract interest? Will you be checking it out?

Red Room seems like a great resource. The site is easy to navigate and the links all work, two crucial features if they want people to keep coming back. I like perusing the Author Biographies. There’s a ton of content here.By Sarah S.

I checked out the site, and really think it will work. MySpace seems to work well for musicians, but it really isn’t very professional looking and doesn’t cater to writers’ needs. Reading and writing can be such solitary activities, so I love the idea of putting a community around it. Oh, and here’s the link to Obama’s page: http://www.redroom.com/author/barack-obamaBy Sandy N.

I was checking out all of the author blogs. I rarely have time to read through various blogs, so I love that all of them are centralized on one site. Some authors that I wasn’t familiar with have had really amusing postings that I don’t think I would have come across otherwise.By Scout Conrack

Well, since authors do in fact set up MySpace pages to promote their work, I assume this has a chance of catching on.
