The most unimportant things you’ll never need to know…
Some trivia is more trivial than other trivia. Don Voorhees is an expert on trivia that is so trivial you might wonder why he even bothers. But he does.
His book “The Essential Book of Useless Information” (Perigee) has just come out in paperback. Here are a few things that I learned from this book-did you know that…
“The American woodcock can remain airborne at 5 miles per hour?
That Juneau, Alaska is almost as big as Delaware and Rhode Island combined?
Lobsters used to be so plentiful that they were a food of the poor in central America?
Trash collectors and cabbies are more likely to be killed on the job than cops or firemen?”
I’ll bet you didn’t know that, did you? This information may be almost useless but I do love knowing it.

Thanks, Vick. One more must read in my ever growing list of books. Last I checked my list was about 3500 books. Of course, I have no responsibility. I keep reading about books when I’m not reading books.
