Remembering their sacrifices…
On Veterans Day we reflect upon the noble sacrifices of those who have served in our armed forces. I remember my dad. He was USMC, Second Division. He saw horrors on Saipan that he never wanted to talk about.
Grandpa Amos was also a Marine. He enlisted straight out of high school. The year was 1917. Grandpa served in France alongside his twin brother. He rarely mentioned his time there.
So many never returned from our wars. Others were maimed. Permanently changed. The blood and the sacrifice and the memories endure.
Today I’m reading “The Darkest Summer -Pusan and Inchon 1950: the Battles that Saved South Korea-and the Marines-from Extinction” (Simon & Schuster) by Bill Sloan.
And I’m honoring my father. And my grandpa. And all the other veterans who served. I shall always honor them. And remember.

I honor them as well Vick. It has always amazed me to watch 19-20 year old men and women assume great responsibilities and show such great courage. They do so humbly and with love for this great country. God bless ‘em all.
