Bye Bye Herman Cain…
Today was the day that Herman Cain decided that enough was enough. He quit. His quixotic presidential campaign is over. Kaput. Done. I’m really going to miss him.
No need to go into the sordid details. Most of us have heard enough already. I wonder if he will continue his book tour to promote his new book “This Is Herman Cain!: My Journey to the White House”? I wonder if his publisher wiil use that same title for the paperback edition? I’m just asking…slow news day.
What do you think?

Herman Cain’s brief run of popularity in GOP race does not automatically expunge the racism in much of today’s conservative movement. Racism is not simply about the color of the skin. It has many more tentacles than that. It is about ideas and the views that he espoused. The apparent surge of Cain supporters into the Gingrich camp, who has been blowing the racial dogwhistle with fervor recently, should speak volumes.

I am sad to see Mr Cain leave the race. He was stirring things up. I didn’t view an outsider being such a bad thing. To quote Mr Cain, “Washington is full of politicians, how’s that working out for you?” However, I don’t think he was quite ready for prime time. Wonder who’ll pick up the folks leaving the Cain Train?

H. Lee, thanks for being honest about the Tea Party, racism, etc. As a conservative who believes in a color blind society, I have grown really tired of the narrative that people like me won’t support black candidates because of race. I really appreciate your comments. I admired Cain for his leadership in the private sector, his unflinching support of it, and his hard work ethic. I don’t know if he is guilty of any of these accusations or not. I don’t think anyone knows for sure but him and his accusers. But your honesty is refreshing.

In a way, this is a sad day. While I disagree with Mr Cain on policy and feel a CEO is a poor background for President (A CEO dictates to his board. A President needs to negotiate everything with Congress), in many ways Mr. Cain was a bit of a “Mr. Smith goes to Washington”. He wasn’t chosen by party hacks; he decided on his own to run. We need more of that spirit.

Now if you can give up your stupid blog posts and liberal gibberish we’ll be better off too. There is no way that you get paid to write this stuff from your tent in Occupy Dayton.

“Mr. Cain’s critics have long posited that he has been more interested in creating celebrity for himself — as a means to sell books and increase speaking fees — than in making a serious bid for the presidency.” (NY Times 12/03/11)

It’s his wife I feel for. She wanted to keep out of the spotlight, but his “skeletons” surely humiliated her. If I were she, Mr. Cain would immediately be free to enjoy life on his own, minus a good portion of his Godfather’s estate. But I will say that at least it shut us liberals up for awhile about the Tea Party being nothing but racists. I get so tired of the “if you don’t like Obama it’s because he’s black” nonsense — and I’m a flaming liberal.

This hour’s Amazon sales ranking position for Herman’s book is #9,652. I don’t think it will improve in the rankings…it is all downhill from here.
