Orange Willard to open for Tantric at Atmosphere
Dayton hard rockers Orange Willard will share stage-time with Platinum-selling rock group Tantric on Sunday, May 10th, at Atmosphere in Centerville.
The band, who was voted as the “best unsigned grunge band in Ohio” on Myspace.com, will add Tantric to a long list of big name bands that Orange Willard has performed with. This list also includes Sponge and July for Kings.
“About two weeks ago Elite Management told us they were organizing a show with Tantric wanted to know if we could play. We, of course, said yes,” said Orange Willard guitarist Charley Skira.
Also playing the show is Urbana’s Small Town Sleeper.
“Sunday we will not only get to open for Tantric, but we finally get to play with Small Town Sleeper again. We played a gig with them and July For Kings about four years ago and have since been trying to get another gig together,” said Skira.
Other News on the Willard front: The band is scheduled to head back into the studio this month or next month to record the follow-up to their 2007 LP entitled Two Years’ Later.
“We found an awesome studio in Nashville called Welcome to 1979, named because all of the recording equipment is from the late 70s,” said Skira.
“We took a trip down there about two months back and they actually let us plug in and run through two songs to see what we’d be getting into. We were nothing short of blown away by the energy and atmosphere of the studio, staff and the sound they got out of us and we can’t wait to get back in there,” Skira added.
OW fans can also catch the band next Thursday, May 14th, at Hot Topic in the Fairfield Commons Mall. The band will unplug and perform acoustic inside the store. The show is free, all-ages, and will begin around 6:30 pm.
“The Hot Topic Show will be a great chance to share our music with some new faces and for our fans and friends to see how we adapt our songs into an acoustic set,” said Skira.
