Show of the Week: Romance of Young Tigers at Blind Bob’s
I was very disappointed to find out today that Dayton noise rock band Romance of Young Tigers is disbanding.
In a myspace.com blog posted today the band wrote that this Saturday’s show at Blind Bob’s will be their last.
“Our band has disbanded. Saturday, May 30th, will be our last show. Thanks to all who cared,” posted Romance of Young Tigers.
This comes as a bit of a surprise because earlier this week the band posted that they were “not breaking up,” and that some of the band was just “moving away.” They even left open the possibility to “come back in October to play the Dayton Music Fest.”
ROYT was also planning to release a new full-length in the Fall that would have been followed by a European tour.
The Romance of Young Tigers last show is this Saturday, May 30th, at Blind Bob’s with Early Day Miners (Secretly Canadian Records) and Footbinder.
If you have never seen ROYT I recommend you catch them Saturday.
Their music is not for the faint at heart or the close minded. It is layered with walls of feedback and mood-altering noises. Fans of experimental and forward thinking music will dig it.
The first time I saw them was at a sweaty basement show in Troy. They opened for Sparrows Swarm and Sing and I had never seen anything like it. I am a big fan.
I think the band will leave a void in the Dayton music community. Good luck guys.
