Dayton Band Playoffs registration has begun
Note to all Dayton area bands who want a chance at some extra local exposure. Sign up and play the Canal Street Tavern Dayton Band Playoffs 2009.
Registration forms can be downloaded at www.canalstreettavern.com. Fill it out, review the rules, and return it to Canal Street Tavern at 308 E. First St.
The Dayton Band Playoffs is a Summer-long showcase and competition for area bands looking to reach a new audience and network with other aspiring artists.
Only a maximum of 48 bands will be admitted into the DBP. So be prompt if your band wants in.
In recent years the playoffs have been a catapult for bands on the rise. The exposure that playing the DBP gives a band is unmatched by any other area music event.
However, I want to remind everyone that the Playoffs are not just for new bands to gain experience and exposure. More established Dayton bands can also reach a new audience and rejuvenate their fanbase.
I really like it when established bands perform in the DBP, and I do not think I am alone.
Take robot-rock veterans Oxymoronatron for example. They made it all the way to the semi-finals last Summer only to lose to the young piano-pop-duo Joose Box.
Maybe Oxymoronatron will try again this year. What do you say guys?
