OSU one of national title favorites

Tressel.jpg

Looks like that OSU-USC game is just as big as we thought it would be.

The lines are out, and Ohio State is one of four teams with 6-1 odds to win next season’s college football national championship. USC is the top favorite, at 3-1.

Joining the Buckeyes at 6-1 are Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma. LSU is listed at 12-1, and Missouri has 14-1 odds.

This shouldn’t really surprise anyone, with a strong defense returning most of its starters and the offensive excitement generated by Terrelle Pryor’s arrival on campus. Say what you want about Todd Boeckman, but he was an All-Big Ten quarterback last season.

If you have a few bucks lying around, you could put them on 150-1 Arkansas, just in case. Atta boy, Bobby Petrino.

Null, look into spell check. Secondly Ohio State plays one of the toughest team out of conference year in and year out. So go back to kissing your mom/sister.

Null, My deepest sympathies. Living your life must be hard. The constant struggles of spelling, speaking, getting up in the morning. Wow. Not sure how you do it. All the best, Null Friend

PLAYS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST TEAMS OUT OF CONFERENCE YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT? BESIDES USC THIS YEAR, NAME 1 IN THE LAST 5 YEARS?

Hey Go Blue: Before making yourself look like a moron while discussing the perceived weakness of OSU’s out of conference schedule over the last few years, save yourself the ridicule and do a little research. OSU played Texas and went 1-1. OSU played NC State (who were ranked at the time) and went 2-0. OSU played Washington (who didn’t suck when the games were scheduled) and went 2-0. And as much as the other OSU out of conference games have been against inferior opponents, at least they didn’t lose to a 1-AA school at home. Enjoy your Meineke Car Care Bowl this year… that is if UM makes it to a bowl.

Goblue. I think Tampa Buckeye is a little ahead of himself. We did play Texas in 2005 and 2006. But, there will be other 2 game series in the years to come. Unfortunately, Miami’s(2010 & 2011) program has gone sour since 2002. But we have Oklahoma sometime after Miami.

WHY NOT PLAY THESE GOOD TEAMS AT THE END OF YEAR? OH THATS RIGHT CAUSE U CAN STILL BE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITH 1 LOSE, THATS IF U LOSE EARLY IN THE SEASON! NICE TRY, BUT KEEP PLAYING TO THE LEVEL OF YOUR COMPETITION AND U WILL NEVER BEAT THE BIG BOYS LIKE FLORIDA, LSU, __ (FILL IN BLANK WITH ANY SEC TEAM)

Hey DPG, nc state? washington? these were what top 25 teams? top 5 teams are suppose to beat up on top 20-25 ranked teams! Texas without vince young? oh please! Ur playing against scrubs, have been and always will till ur atheltic director grow a pair and schedule some real teams! Usc will show you!

Real teams? Like Michigan? I think OSU should schedule Michigan as the last game, every year. I wonder how OSU would do against Michigan? Moron.

GOBLUE. Who have you played in the last 6 years except Notre Lame? And they sucked a couple years. OSU is taking a big risk playing these teams early in the season while you play 1-AA teams and get embarrassed.

My Name is null i am a Southern Canada Fan(Micigan Fan) and i suck. All OSU is doing null is trying to keep the money in state to help out the other teams in Ohio (Mac).. Go back to Michigan with your new coach and get ready for another a*s kicking this year…. bb

Like GOBLUE said we sould schedule the top ranked teams last, so we need to move the Southern Canada game to the early season schedule.. sounds good to me. we will play USC for the right to go the the show..

GOBLUE - You have nads; I’ll say that for you. You get beat by the Little Sisters of the Poor, get smoked by OSU most every year, and still have the guts to tell Buckeye fans that the Bucks don’t play anyone. Last time I checked our starting linemen aren’t transferring to Michigan. Of course he probably won’t be good enough to start for the Bucks.

Enjoy your overrated coach and team that can’t run his spread, and we’ll enjoy owning your face with the guy who was supposed to save your program, but shunned you for a school that plays for titles.

Ohio State has yet to play a strong team out of conference for a while, except for playing texas the year that Texas won the national championship. Its good that they will actually go out of the overrated Big 10 to prove to the country that they truly are a good team, or to show how overrated they are and how much they never deserved to go to the 2008 national championship.

Haven’t the poll voters learned from the past couple of years? OSU plays great smashmouth football, which is good enough to win the Big 10, but they get torn apart when facing the speed of the SEC in bowl games. 0-9!

Excuse me goblue. You maybe right in partial. While tOSU has played top teams(texas, Illinois, Wisconsin) the schedule has gotten weaker with Michigan on it.
