It’s official: Beanie’s not playing

Aug 10 Crying Child.jpg

It’s Jim Tressel’s decision, via the Columbus Dispatch:

“I’m not sure he’ll ever speak to me again (but) I think it’s the right thing to do,” Tressel said.
Tressel said the decision to not play Wells was his alone after talking the matter over with medical personnel. The coach said he is concerned that letting Wells play might expose him to further risk of injury.

And Buckeye hearts drop everywhere.

This doesn’t guarantee an OSU loss, mind you. It just nudges the assumption in that direction. Think of it this way, Ohio State fans. If the Buckeyes lose, there’s at least a good reason to point to: “Well, Beanie Wells didn’t play. Woulda been a different game if the big guy played.”

Because, even at full strength, it wasn’t looking so good.

When our the fans of OSU going to say that Tressel can’t coach in the big game. I am a OSU fan and I expect him to lose every big game but he beats the team up north and all is forgiven. Those wins mean nothing when you lose to a power house team like USC. OSU will lose at least 1 more game.

Tressel gets out classed again. Just remember he won with Coopers players in that championship year not his. He will not win another championship at OSU because he can’t coach in the big game. This is not YOUNGSTOWN STATE this is the big time and he can’t do it.

This is really getting to be embarrassing. Tressell needs to realize that beating Michigan and winning the Big Ten doesn’t amount to a hill of beans on a national level. It’s a shame because this team is loaded with talent, but the offensive play calling is terrible. Where was the pass rush last night? Where was the D? USC had 2nd and 3rd and long several times and ran the ball for a first down. That’s inexcusable. It’s hard to get excited about the big games anymore, because we already know what’s coming. Come on Tress, step it up.

Too Too predictable. This automatically gives the other team the edge. The game plan going into this game was horrid. Who in their right mind would run Todd Boeckman on an option. I am lost as to what the offense game plan is. Also we were handled up front on both sides of the ball which is inexcusible. This is a Pac 10 team no way should we be getting beat upfront

There is more to life than just football. Read Tressel’s book “Winners Manual” and you will discover why Tressel is golden. He develops winners who just happen to play football for him, win or loose.
