Will Smith, Cameron Diaz top moneymakers
But it’s apples and oranges, according to a new Forbes ranking of Hollywood’s top paychecks. Hollywood’s 10 best-paid actors out-earned Hollywood’s 10 best-paid actresses 2-to-1 over the course of the year, according to the magazine.
All together, leading men took home about $487 million between June 1, 2007, and June 1, 2008, compared with the women’s $244.5 million.
Will Smith banked an impressive-by-any-standards $80 million last year, topping Forbes’ list. Cameron Diaz isn’t feeling any pain either, raking in $50 million last year, making her the top-earning actor with the XX chromosome. Quick — name her last big movie. Yeah, didn’t think so.
Among others in the financial stratosphere: No. 2-ranked Johnny Depp, with a $72 million paycheck; and, tied for third place, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, with $55 million each. Leonardo DiCaprio, with $45 million, rounded out the top five.
Keira Knightley earned $32 million and Jennifer Aniston pulled in $27 million, which, while obviously a fraction of what the men earn, would support most of us just fine.
In terms of media personalities, Oprah Winfrey still owns the bank. Her earnings last year were a $275 million.
As for other TV stars, Charlie Sheen was the top-earning male ($20 million), while “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl deposited $13 million, making her the top-ranking female.
Where does all this money come from? Oh — I forgot. From you and me. Sigh.

All I have to say is that in OH, the average starting salary for a teacher is less than $50,000 a year. Something is seriously wrong here.By G

to Curbie54. Yea….it’s called supply and demand. $50k is pretty good considering what they do and the amount of time spent on the job!
