Misty May-Treanor out of DWTS
Reality television brings Olympic champion to her knees: Misty May-Treanor is out of “Dancing with the Stars” after popping her Achilles tendon — yup, that’s one of the requirements for jumping, which Olympic volleyball players do a lot.
The information comes from DWTS’ Brooke Burke (that’s her, pictured left; Misty M-T, right), who said, “It’s such a sad situation. She did hurt her Achilles tendon. I don’t know if she tore it or ruptured it. She’s out of the competition. Just like that, it’s over for her … We’re all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don’t know yet. It’s such a bummer.”
“She heard a pop,” Burke said of the Olympic gold medalist, 31, “so it’s really serious.”

It is awfully ironic that she gets injured DANCING after a lifetime of world-class athletic competition. Not that dancing’s not hard, but still … Maybe now she and her beach volleyball partner can stay home and have those babies they keep talking about. not together, or maybe together, or whatever.
