‘Survivor’ winner: cancer is worse

The winner of “Survivor: Africa” tells People.com that his cancer is worse than before and he is far from cured.

“No one was expecting this,” Ethan Zohn says in his online video diary. “Hodgkin’s is one of the most curable cancers out there, so you can imagine I was completely shocked, and floored, and speechless.”

Zohn, who won the hit reality show’s third season, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in April.

Despite the news, the 35-year-old says his hopes are high despite the likelihood that he will need chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

Zohn says it is a blessing that he can help in “educating, raising awareness and erasing the stigma associated with cancer.”

My question is, why is he waiting so long to get treatment? If he was diagnosed 5 months ago, why is he not already on chemo? I wish him luck.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkins 26 1/2 years ago and have been cancer free for 26 years. Good luck and God bless!

He did a full round of treatment already and it didn’t take. He is starting another round of another type of chemo this time. If you read the full article in People it describes it in detail.

CR read all facts b4 u speak. Biff and JL u make me sick. When u become ill perhaps with cancer, no one should care, just die. Don’t know or have to know Ethan. He’s a young person and has a battle ahead of him. Too many have lost compassion for others. There are others with survivor stories to share with u Ethan. UR already a survivor. Kick butt in this battle and survive.

Hey, just because I ask, “Ethan who?”, JL and sickened, that I’ve MUCH better things to do with my time other than watch a bunch of people on some stupid “reality” show and have never heard of him, you insult me? That I should get cancer and, “just die”, that “no one cares”, and I have a problem. Get a life, folks. I repeat, ETHAN WHO?

What kind of life did this guy lead? He won a million dollars and he came up with cancer, now he’s got spend it all on treatment,or just maybe it’s a scam to get dumb a*s americans to give him more money.

I’d be SO MAD to have won a million dollars which is a once in a lifetime thing and then have to turn around and blow it all on cancer treatments. What misfortune! I guess it’s not as bad as not being able to afford it though.
