Obama to Letterman: “I was actually black before the election”

President Barack Obama had a “revelation” for David Letterman who asked if Jimmy Carter was correct to say the anger towards Obama at town hall meeting is based on racism.

“I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election,” Obama said on the show Monday, Sept. 21, causing the studio audience to erupt in laughter. “This is true.”

“How long have you been a black man,” Letterman responded.

Obama said the fact that he was elected president indicates “where the country is at.”

He said he’s not the first president to be vilified.

“Whenever a president tries to bring about significant changes, particularly during times of economic unease, then there is a certain segment of the population that gets very riled up,” the president said. “This is not untypical. One of the things you sign up in politics is folks yell at you.”

Obama said the majority of the country is turned off by all the shouting and yelling and what to have a real conversation.

But wait a tick. Do you think the president right on this one?

As I recall he is half black and half white. Why is the black half more important (or sensitive) than the white half. Is everyone just trying to keep the racial thing going? I think he must be thin skined. Everybody jumped on Bush and that was OK. This guy is no worse or better.

He was never a “black man”. He is bi-racial, nothing to be ashamed of. His mother was a white woman…and his grandparents who are largely responsible for his education and upbringing are also white. It’s NOT about race. The problem is that his policies are socialist in nature and sacrifice personal freedoms in pursuit of a socialist nirvana where everyone is taken care of by the government. No thanks.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that pointed out the fact that he is of MIXED race, not BLACK. Since the beginning, every time I hear…”Our first BLACK President”…I want to shout out “No he is NOT. He is MIXED” Doesn’t matter to me, but apparently it is supremely important to blacks for them to be able to say that he is only black.

To Brenda, I’d rather support socialist ideas than the Communistic (Further separation of the haves and have nots) spew that comes from the right. As to Race. the fact that its even mentioned means that there is a racist element in the discussion. He’s a man… And an American in spite of the crap that some would have you believe…. If you don’t agree with his policies … Thats fine… but come up with something constructive rather than “He’s Socialist and his Idea’s are wrong”…. Where are your better Idea’s or at least Idea’s that will start constructive criticism…. Some people just need to complain I guess.. Seems that type are coming out of the walls everywhere these days.

is it still true that is you are half black you are considered black? if thats the case almost all blacks are bi-tri-quad racial. there is no such thing as full black in america we are all mixed with something. why is that so important? he is not playing the race card he needs help from congress to get what he wants to get done.why is it that we(everyone) had to respect bush and yet you whites have no respect for obama? many of you bastards are making jokes about killing him, this is not funny. and if something like that was to happen there would just be an obama holiday.America you really need to get it together we are the most blessed nation by far.And we have a man trying to make it better for us. why are our people so stupid, selfish and ungrateful? Take a look at yourselves. You can’t do the job. So stop being so hateful.

Come on, he was in the Senate when they all voted for the war. He is as guilty as the rest!! Oh that’s right, it’s all Bush’s fault, just like the economic turmoil were in. Get a clue, moron!!!

Anyone who sits & listened to his pastor for 20 yrs Jeremiah Wright who is a bigoted racist makes anyone wonder about him. I think he is a people pleaser, socialist & pretty soon we’ll all be running around with bar codes on our heads when he supposedly brings us into the new world order. I think this will be the US of socialism

In order to remain more consistent in our dedication to fighting the communist/fascist influences in the United States of America, should we abolish socialized fire protection?
