I definitely want to be cremated and my ashes spread over the Smokey Mountains. Plus, I am going to donate my body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State. My mom did this, and it is the best way to have zero funeral expenses! They cremate the body also and either give family the ashes or they can inter them at the cemetery on campus!

Funeral homes are a racket that play upon the bereaved’s feelings. If you believe in a soul, then its flame is not maintained in the dead vessel. Preservation of corpses is wasteful, creates toxic waste and should go the way of the pharaohs. We are not this body.

I am an organ donor - whatever doesn’t go to improve someone else’s quality of life will be donated to science, and if there’s anything left, cremate it. Fortressdayton, you put it very well - we are not this body. My husband, on the other hand, half-jokingly wants to have his ashes compressed into a diamond. It can be done, and the diamond can be mounted into jewelry. I personally find that a little creepy. “Oh, I like your ring!” “Thanks, it is my late husband!”
