Do you go to any of the area farmers markets? Which one do you like? What do you buy?
NANCY BROOKS, Dayton: “The one in downtown Dayton — 2nd Street National Market. It’s great. We buy all kinds of stuff there on a regular basis. We buy honey, maple syrup, bread. And I like the produce. We go on Saturday mornings.”
JOLANDA VAN PRAAT, Beavercreek: “There’s a wagon on Wilmington Pike, near Bellbrook. When their peaches are in season, they are fabulous.”
LAURIE BAILEY, Eaton: “I go to the one in Preble County, right in the middle of the city of Eaton. I usually buy tomatoes, cucumbers. They have fruit, too, like cantaloupe.”
ROYCE COLEMAN, Huber Heights: “No, because my family grows everything. I just go get it from their garden in St. Paris.”
RICHARD YORK, Springfield: “We go to the downtown Springfield farmers market, We buy good, locally grown fresh vegetables and some meat, including bison.”
SALLY RADER, Arcanum: “There’s one in Arcanum that’s close by. It’s not very big, but they have fresh produce, fresh baked goods and some crafts.”

I go to the one in Sidney. It is held around the courthouse square. It is wonderful. There is just a huge variety that there is just too much to list. The prices are very reasonable. I really love it and look forward to evry year!

I don’t go to any of them. Who knows what in on or in the products. No oversight or health dept checks. Even with the FDA products have to be recalled. Gamble your health if you want. I’m steering clear of them.

I think Skeptic may be mistaken. In my county, all food venders must have a Health Dept. certificate. I go every week and I love it. I will look for the Health Dept. certificates next time. You really can taste the difference in the produce.

Skeptic: your thinking is backwards - there is more disease and e-coli in a field spread with animal manure than in any small farmers’ fields. The FDA can’t “see the unseen” anymore than anyone else. When the choice is small farm vs. big agribusiness the choice if clear

Small farmers use the same techniques as the larger operations. And there are other toxic materials used besides animal waste. But hey, go for it. Maybe you’ll get lucky and maybe not.

I go to the Wright Dunbar Farm Market, held Saturdays, 9:30-3 at West Third & Williams. Everything fresh from Germantown local Stubbs Family Farms - including meats. They are licensed and have been inspected.

Sounds like skeptic works at Kroger… Miamisburg has a nice Farmers market every Wednesday on Miami Ave. near Linden Ave. It runs from @ 1 PM to 6 PM I believe. If you can’t or don’t grow your own veggies and fruit, this is where you can get the good stuff. Never gotten sick from anything there over last couple of years.

We go to the Tipp City Farmers’ Market every Saturday morning. One block of 3rd Street is closed to traffic for the vendors’ booths. The selection is great and we are fortunate to eat fresh produce, just hours from the fields.

I like the farmers markets just not much variety as the ones back in Maryland. We miss the butter beans, and unique variety of greens.
