Does Ohio need a mid-term recall option for state officeholders?
Does Ohio need a mid-term recall option for state officeholders?
UTWILLA SMITH, Dayton: “Ohio probably does need it. Suppose you do vote for someone who doesn’t do what they promised? You have to wait four years to vote them out.”
CHRISTINA MILLER, West Chester: “I don’t think they need the recall. It’s just something people want to use when they’re upset that their candidate didn’t win. The four-year cycle for re-election is perfectly fine.”
SHUJAAT KHAN, Clearcreek Twp.: “Yes. Ted Strickland was doing a better job than Mr. Kasich, and we shouldn’t have to wait till the next election cycle to vote him out. The sooner the better.”
CAROLYN GRIFFEN, Carlisle: “I think it would be good to have. Sometimes candidates say one thing, but when they get in there they do something different, not what they promised. It would be good to have in a situation like that.”
AMAN COX, Kettering: “I’m a truck driver, so I’m hardly ever in Ohio. In the last two years, I’ve spent more time in other states for my job. But if someone is not doing any good at his job, why not have that option?”

I believe that this mid-term recall option should be used only if the people elected are conservative hateful/racist/xenophobic/”got rich off the backs of the poor” officials. T Party candidates are included in this also. Community organizers, Socialists, Democrat party operatives, closet Communists, The new ACORN liars and thieves (they’re still here, under new names…didn’t know that?) and SEIU union operatives will be immune from this recall option. If the people didn’t get what they paid for (Govt. nanny state, hand outs, cradle to grave “security”, when to be told that they can use the restroom by the state), only then will life be fair, all of us will live in harmony, and hard decisions to be made to make us successful will be banned. Politicians that believe in “group think” will not be recalled. Politicians that show any inkling of common sense, freedom from state control of individuals, a business acunem, and even MENTION that horrid document…The Constitution…will immediately be removed from office. After all…it’s only “fair”.

I wish their was some way to recall the DDN and bring back The Journal Herald paper, they are in full reelect Obama mode, read the AP article about Obama caring about how much the Government is spending on entitlements. THE TRUTH IS OBAMA HAS SPENT MORE MONEY IN HIS FIRST TWO YEARS THAN ALL PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS COMBINEDTHINK ABOUT THAT RAP YOUR BRAIN AROUND THAT. Obama is also on tape wishing we would have to pay $5.00 a gallon for gas, google it because the DDN is Burying it.

There are impeachment abilities built into the system for politicians who are corrupt. We need to remember that elections are expensive for the candidate and the taxpayers. We have major problems beyond elections such as our newspapers going with the Obama net neutrality thing. They want it so that those opposed to the Obama Marxist agenda will be able to say little. Our opinion page has dwindled down to just the blogs where we can comment. The Obama associates like George Soros, Cass Sunstein, Van Jones, Pelosi, Reid are all enemies of gun rights, free speech and in general, the right to the freedoms America stands for. I do not support OBama for 2012. NO to Obama or his friends!

Good ol’ DDN…has to keep those union minions all stirred up. Won’t focus on the real problems this country will face in the very near future. Gas prices nearing $6. a gallon, food prices and general inflation both rising significantly, but you see very little coverage. Why is that? Remember how the left attacked Bush when prices rose a few years ago. Why? Go ahead with your silly recall. Bring it to the voters. Liberals have to play the blame card. When you look beyond the rhetorical BS, its a bogus argument. Obama is once again playing the blame card, and blaming oil speculators. Its become the standard Liberal montra, although investigations never find any gouging or market manipulation. But keep repeating it because the dumb masses will beleive what they are told to beleive. Remember in the 2004 election, the Liberals kept repeating, “It’s the economy, stupid”..Well now going into 2012, it REALLY IS THE ECONOMY, STUPID! You are beginning to see the real results and intentions of Obama’s anti-American, anti-business policies, and it doesn’t bode well for Americans, regardless of whether they are union, non-union, black or white. We are all getting screwed equally. Obama himself said he will transform America, well he is doing it, how does the future look for you and your children?

For all you misled people out there who think that DDN is a liberal-leaning rag: most of the stories you read in it are by conservative AP “Washington Correspondents” such as Andrew Taylor and Jack Torry. They have many publications of their own pro-GOP. Obama is no more anti-american than you are. Kasich and his pals are following the agenda of the Koch-backed ALEC, just like WI, MI, NJ, FL,NH, etc. All you Tea Baggers have been used, and it won’t be pretty when you find out that only the wealthy have any place in their plutocracy. Your “freedoms” you prize sooooo much are really going to change.

The cost of having a recall election would be crazy. People need to pay attention during the election and really see what the candidates are like. Kasich may be one of the worst governors we have ever had, but he got elected and we need to live with it. We can’t change in mid-stream just because he makes us mad.

Let’s see here. The state is deep into red ink. The new governor is trying to stop the bleeding. Now people think we need to be able to waste more money on a recall election. We HAVE to get the spending under control NOW. Can’t put it off any longer! Unions are responsible for artificially high labor costs, unbelievable benefits and retirement packages that the average taxpayer can only dream of, and inefficient work practices that only add to the cost of government. We can’t keep passing these bills onto the next generation. The buck needs to stop here and NOW.

It does seem that if another election were held today, Strickland would win. Huge pendulum swings are wreaking havoc with a fragile economy. Whether or not you have a corrupt, paid-for governor who is unfit for office is another question.

No. The democrat babies have to quit whining when they don’t get their way. If it was a democrat governor and we were recalling him, then the democrats would be all about changing so we don’t have recalls. Look at WI. Both dems and repubs are trying to recall each other. It is just stupid and childish. We had an election, now you live with the results. We are living with the results of Obama and Obamacare. I did not see any republicans run from their job because of Obamacare. Democrats need to grow up.

Everyone agrees that the most important thing to “stop the bleeding” is to stimulate the economy and create new jobs. Do you suggest that we can afford to pay for private schools for everyone? And teachers should be paid like fast food workers? An average engineer is compensated higher than a teacher. Teachers are required to have a master’s degree. You are incredibly ignorant. Not to mention the fact that your state taxes are deductible from your historically low federal income taxes, people. WHERE are the new jobs Kasich promised?

Tim, Ask yourself these questions, “How did it to the point where teacher’s are required to acheive a Master’s Degree?”..and Kasich has been in office less than 6 months, you ask him where are the jobs, but Obama has been in office 2 1/2 years. He promised jobs too, some he called shovel-ready, but then admitted shovel-ready jobs never existed. Wouldn’t it be fair and responsible to ask that same question from Obama? There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity.

You know, Navin, you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. Obama did “stop the bleeding” when he came into office, and it was called a stimulous package. Not to mention much-needed healthcare reform — what reform he could get, anyway. He has been hamstringed by dumb bunnies like you who vote Republican so you can feel like big pricks. You are a dishwasher on the Republican gravy train. And I’m a female, so please use a gender-appropriate reply.

Proud Donkey, you are an a*s regardless of gender. Stop the bleeding are you serious? Obama hamstringed?? yeah, inconvienced by silly things like the Constitution and our laws. Yeah, you are typical example of how fall we have fallen as a nation. You say I’m a dishwasher or whatever, but you have as much of a clue about me as you have in your ability to understand our country and world around you. The stimulous package did nothing to help our situation, go back and research what the Dems said at the time. While you are at it, do the same for the Obamcare. You may actually learn something, but I truly doubt that you have the ability to comprehend. How about some facts?
By Proud Donkey

The fact is that in the fall of 2008, we were in the throes of total economic collapse, thanks to the Bush policies. How anyone can vote Republican after that is beyond me. But to be fair, taking a surplus together with a moderate recession and turning it into a spiral of poverty was completely consistent with Bush’s corporate “leadership” experiences. Do you propose that Obama took leadership under good or even poor circumstances rather than dire? At least Jesse James did it with a gun, folks. Facts. The US Constitution is a roadmap not meant to take the place of regulation, legislation or the court system, for that matter. My family is an example of how the middle class system should work. We had more opportunity than the working class has now. My parents have (private sector) pensions in addition to ss and savings/investments, I will not. I do not accept that “those days are gone” when a small percentage of the population has most of the wealth, and pays no taxes. I am not a teacher, but apparently teachers in Ohio no longer need a master’s to renew their license. They are required to take professional development to keep their license current, and teachers who already have jobs and masters ostensibly would earn more. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/6103514/ohioteachersnolongerrequiredtopg3.html?cat=4. Another triumph of inconsistency. yes, Obama was hamstringed most recently by the 2012 budget. Once again, the Republicans want to strip mine for what they can get in the short run, and leave you with the aftermath.

I don’t think Ohio needs a recall built in. Our government seems to get bigger and more involved in things they have no business messing with. That stupid smoking law should be recalled because it violates my rights as a property owner. If you don’t smoke or don’t like smoke, don’t come to my restaurant! Whether we deal with budget failures, we need a government that does not attempt to control so many details about our lives. I am speaking of the Obama Administration and that nut that went to Chicago to destroy that city. Rahm Emanuel, I believe is his name. A Socialist, who believes govt. can run our lives better than we can.

I agree the only thing that needs a recall is the smoking ban in Ohio. That was a rip off that was achieved in a poorly written, double trouble ballot. With the bad characters like Obama and associates, we may need all kinds of recall tools built in. Control freaks is what they are. I like being free, free from an over-controlling, burden of a government.

Proud Donkey, your thinking is flawed. Bush made mistakes, and yes every President does, even Obama. Never been much of a Bush fan, because he embraced to many liberal policies, and he betrayed his conservative base. But just because Bush was a so-called failed President as you say, it it reason for Obama to as in his own words, “systemmatically change America” If it was just Bush, why didn’t Obama’s takeovers, and many Stimuluses have the results Obama and the left assured their country it would? Bush has become Obama’s cover,so he doesn’t ever have to answer the tough questions. But to be so myopic in your viewpoint shows you see just what you want to see. The economic collapse was a long time coming, and to lay blame solely at Bush’s feet is intellectually and factually dishonest. But in your Repub. vs Dem. only way of thinking thats probalbly hard for you to understand. Why do you feel obligated to defend Obama’s many failures. Funny how you use Bush as an excuse for everything Obama can’t seem to get done. Its ashame you view the world thru such distorted eyes. You need to look at Obama thru your “Bush hating-eyes” and be just as doubting of his words as you were of Bushes. By the way, the Obama administration never submitted a budget last year, although they were required to do so by law. Did you ever occur to you to ask why? They did not because, by their own admission, they wouldve taken a bigger bath in the mid-terms. They never did submit one. Explain how Obama was/is hamstringed by the 2011 budget. We are teetering on the point of no return. Check out what is happening to the dollar around the world. Are Obama’s policies benefitting us or the countries we compete econically with? Be very specific, please. But back to the original article regarding recall. I see you come from a family of teachers, please explain why potential police officers cannot pass a basic civil service test? Do you see the Constitution as an obstacle? Does Obama’s relationship with GE bother you, They didn’t pay any taxes. But they are big Obama donors, and also received one of the 1000+ Obamacare waivers. If its such great plan, why are so many being allowed to opt out? Questions you should ask but don’t.

I’m tired of elected officials manipulating our laws so that they can go around them. Voters spoke overwhelmingly last election, yet Democrats fled and wouldn’t allow voting in Wisconsin. Teachers got fake doctor notes (caught on video) and nothing was ever done about any of it. No, we don’t need a mid-term recall option for state offices. However, I would love a special nation wide vote on the health care fiasco that forces redistribution of wealth (which is socialism). Will Obama be able to regulate the internet and shut it down to cover up his web of deceit? Net neutrality—it was deemed unconstitutional in court, but now Obama wants to switch up the internet and call it a utility so he can “regulate” and tax it. Since Fox News is the only media that actually reports all news include unflattering news from the WH, it has been under attack also. While the Obama administration is busy attempting to rewrite our constitution to make owning ammunition only associated with sports instead of being used as protection, our president has a huge agenda which includes controlling the internet and regulating what we can watch on tv and listen to on the radio, as well as how much salt we can put on our food, and how much “sin” tax we have to pay if we want to purchase soda. I wonder when Obama administration will finally get around to doing its job of protecting our borders and keeping terrorists and illegal aliens from entering at their will, but maybe that’s just asking too much from a guy like Obama. We don’t need lawyers rewriting our laws, we need our officials to adhere to these same laws and enforce them. Socialists are overthrowing our Republic, and people are wanting to recall Kasich because he actually is doing what he was ELECTED by voters to do: his job. I think the president could learn somthing from Gov Kasich!

The value of the dollar sharply declined over the Bush administration. Here is a link to a chart from the last 30 years, to be fair. I would attribute this to the re-growth of the national debt, the general failure of Americans to own America, and the failure of the Bush administration to create new jobs or even keep the old ones. Oh, yes, and the COMPLETE FAILURE OF OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM. But those are the policies the R’s always espouse, or don’t espouse, according to your viewpoint. http://www.fxstreet.com/rates-charts/usdollar-index/. I also propose that we cannot afford Kasich’s continued slash and burn policies. Who exactly are Kasich’s “consultants” and what are they being paid? eg. we can afford vouchers for private education? You will see more local poverty/working poor under the current administration.

Democrats reduced the budget? The budget went up 4 trillion under Obama. What do you have to say about THAT? Did you see how ridiculous Obama’s deficit plan is? And what is with Obama sending $2 billion of our money to Brazil? You left leaning loones okay with that, too? Yeah, I thought so. Strickland turned a surplus into a deficit. You know what? If Obama would allow for oil drilling in Alaska and the gulf, and stop the Fed from quantitative easing (monetizing our debt, printing more money), oil and gas prices might go down, but I don’t see that happening. Instead, Obama wants to raise taxes on oil/gas, as well as filter our money to Brazil for oil drilling there. Meanwhile his regulatory czar, Cass Sustein, sits on oil permits while Shell oil and gas company eats what they had already invested in permit fees and exploratory efforts. Isn’t it nice to know your president Obama is killing energy jobs, too? BTW, he’s attacking the coal industry. Isn’t that nice? Maybe he can kick every American job to the side and then we won’t need our cars to go to work in, because we won’t have jobs. Then Obama’s agenda will be complete. Our economy will fail, and Americans will be begging the federal government for money and Obama thinks he’ll be reelected. Yeah, nice plan, that narcissistic #!%%(*^)^^%!!!! Did you get an email from Chase Bank and Krogers telling you their computer data bases had been compromised and to expect some spam e-mails because of it? Chase bank is the bank that has been targeted by the unions. They want their followers to not pay their mortgages and thus cause bank failure and manipulation of stockmarkets. Union Leader Lerner proposed the sabotage of our economic system at a recent meeting in NY where his idol Piven also spoke about how to overwhelm the American economy in order to cause it to fail. Isn’t it nice to know that Obama is in bed with the Unions? Doesn’t it give you a warm cozy feeling knowing your president is probably a socialist who seeks to overthrow the government he is supposed to be serving? Just move along…nothing to see here…yeah, right!

I just got 2 e-mails, one from Krogers and one from Chase Bank, that told me their data systems had been hacked and that the hackers now had my e-mail address and to expect “spam”—I am not convinced that my e-mail address is all these hackers got. I wonder if it has anything to do with Union Leader Lerner’s proposed economical terrorism, sabotaging Chase Bank by instructing his followers to not pay their mortgages and thus cause Chase Bank to fail and the stockmarket to crash. I asked a person in my office and they said they received similar e-mails from all of their credit card companies. Does anybody think this is all a “coincidence”? Then I read on fox news that a play station company had been hacked and they got social security numbers and birth dates. I’m wondering if I need to change banks. One of the people in my office told me it wouldn’t do any good because if they targeted Chase Bank, they are hacking the other banks as well… Anybody else know anything about this? Is Homeland Security or AG Holder investigating the unions’ ties to the hacking of our accounts?
