Heart attack claims Lenvil Elliott at 57

===LUDWIG AT LARGE is deeply saddened by the death of Lenvil Elliott, who becomes the 29th deceased Cincinnati Bengals player in the 41-year history of the franchise. Mr. Elliott started his NFL career with the Bengals (1973-78) and finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers (1979-81), winning a Super Bowl ring for the Niners by beating the Bengals, 26-21, in SB XVI.===

Lenvil Elliott dies in Richmond, Mo.
Former NFL running back Lenvil Elliott, who returned to his home in Richmond, Mo., after his playing career was finished, died of a heart attack Sunday, Oct. 12. He was 57.
Elliott, who played college football at Northeast Missouri State, was a 10th-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1973. He played six seasons with the Bengals and was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 1979. He played on the 49ers team that won Super Bowl XVI.
Elliott carried the ball 440 times for 1,900 yards (a 4.3-yard average per carry) and 8 rushing touchdowns in his nine-year career. He also caught 159 passes for 1,484 yards (9.3) and 10 TDs.
His funeral is today, Thursday, Oct. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
