Seriously, folks: I’m very sorry to bother you, but I was just wondering …

‘LUDWIG AT LARGE’

TAKES NO PRISONERS

ON A THURSDAY VENT

===Just wanted to say “thank you” to Psychostats and everyone else who wished me well in my recovery from a Sunday night fall. Just call me “Twinkle Toes.” I learned the hard way that I’m 54 — not 22. I feel 74 covering the men in stripes.===

LIKE I SAID, FOLKS … I WAS JUST WONDERING …

—-If Marvin Lewis is ever going to walk into a post-game news conference and say the same immortal words once uttered by Bruce Coslet: “WE … SUCK!”

—-If, at any point this offseason, Marvin will look at himself in the mirror and say, “Self, I can’t win here, working for the Brown family.”

—-If the recommendation of Drs. Ocho Cinco and Houshmandzadeh — to shut it down — will have any impact on quarterback Carson Palmer. (Pssst! Carson: If I were you, stud, I’d be on a jet for L.A. today … and chillin’ in the hot tub 5 hours later. But, hey, that’s just me.)

—-If Jerry Jones can bring back 100 or so Dallas Cowboys Alumni Cheerleaders for a reunion — yep, they were ALL on the field at Texas Stadium cheering with the current squad before the Bengals-Cowboys game on Oct. 5 — why can’t Mike Brown bring back a dozen Bengals alumni, put jerseys on them and parade ‘em out to midfield for a halftime ceremony. Bengals alumni are THE MOST SHABBILY TREATED in the NFL.

—-What FOX executives will think about a Phillies-Devil Rays World Series. Obviously, they wanted Red Sox-Dodgers … not Rays-Phils, which will surely generate the lowest TV ratings in Series history. (And pardon me while I throw a high, hard one at Manny’s noggin.)

—-How good Carl Crawford would look in a Cincinnati Reds uniform playing left field.

—-How in the world the Ohio State Buckeyes — MY OHIO STATE BUCKEYES — are not ranked among the top 10 in the nation. I know that voters (studs & studettes) in the Associated Press college football poll are stupid. But I didn’t know they were dumb.

—-When Tom Crean is going to wake up to the realization that leaving his post as Marquette University’s head basketball coach for Indiana University was a huge mistake.

—-How Heather & Georgie are doing. Twenty-four hours before I got all bloodied up on my fall down an embankment near the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel, I met Heather, a real estate studette in the NYC borough of Manhattan. She was seated at a corner table at Starbucks just off the hotel lobby, and she was holding Georgie, her pretty lil pooch. I began petting Georgie, who seemed to like me. I asked Heather if I could give Georgie a “spin.” You know, a walk around the premises. She agreed. Georgie and I cruised the lobby and I took her outside where the perfectly manicured grass felt cool on her puppy paws. I delivered Georgie back to Heather 10 minutes later. I know what you’re wondering, and it’s true. The Sheraton Meadowlands is a dog-friendly hotel. Why else would the Bengals be allowed to stay there?

—-How the Bengals and their fans are going to feel on Sunday PLAYING and ATTENDING an away game in Cincinnati when Paul Brown Stadium …

… transforms into Heinz Field SW.

UNTIL NEXT TIME…

Interesting comments. Marvin is probably not as far along as Coslet was when he made that above mentioned statement. I feel this team does not have that “Country Club” mentality that Bruce had to deal with. I could be wrong, but a few of the Cincinnati players seemed to take their talent for granted early in this season and in so doing set the whole team back about four games into the season, to where the Bengals still haven’t recovered to play as a oneness of mind unit. Too many off season distractions, (and now in season distractions) when they should have been concentrating on team cohesion. This part of the problem belongs to ML. The bringing them into the fold problem belongs to MB and family. Then the OL fell apart; became a filter instead of a plug, allowing the QB to become an endangered teammate. As for CP, I would think he would want to go elsewhere soon. It seems to me the next Bengal playoff game is still a few more years down the road.

Chick ever since Mikey decided to redeem the Village Idiot my boss and I have figured Marvin would resign after the season ends. Agreed that the team should do more for the vets but considering the past 18 years how many former players would not want to be associated w/ Mikey’s joke and politely decline? Thoughts?

Chick, There are a couple good story ideas in this article. Why not try writing a story about one of them? Hope you recovery goes well.

Hi Chick! We are doing well. I too am quite upset the Bucks are not in the top ten. I had high hopes for this season. I will be going back to Columbus for my first OSU vs. Michigan game in ten years- the joy and anticipation is waning though as we continue to stay out of top ten. It was so great meeting you - your memories of the wine and silver blue was a trip!
