Palmer out for the year? Hardly a scoop
GLAZER AND LEWIS
‘THICK AS THIEVES’
===One of the highlights of Cincinnati Bengals training camp every year is watching FOXSports.com’s Jay Glazer — dressed professionally in his flip-flops, muscle shirt and “parachute” shorts — parade around Georgetown College’s Toyota Stadium field like he owns the joint. It’s humorous watching Glazer and Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis yuk it up and slobber all over one another, telling secrets. The challenge of being a Bengals beat writer is sifting through all the conflicting stuff you hear and attempting to separate fact from fiction.===
Carson Palmer’s right elbow is a sitcom and a saga wrapped in a mystery tucked inside a soap opera.
The latest? FOXSports.com’s Jay Glazer is reporting that it’s official — the Bengals have decided to shut Palmer down for the season.
Folks, it’s hardly a scoop.
We keep hearing that Carson is doing well in his throwing … that his elbow continues to improve with rest and rehabilitation … and that he wants the opportunity to play again this season.
Yeah, right.
No way is the club going to toss their franchise quarterback out onto a field behind an offensive line that resembles a sieve only to have him risk further injury to his elbow by getting bludgeoned in one of two final meaningless games against the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs.
Who’s Zoomin’ Who?
Bengals beat writers may be stupid, but we’re not dumb.

HERE’S PALMER’S SPOKESMAN MARIN LEWIS:
“Carson (Palmer) will continue to throw. He may even have an opportunity to throw at some point in practice with the rest of the club, so he continues to progress well. We’ll just see where he goes and what the doctors will allow him to do.”
Q: So, the Fox report that Carson Palmer has been shut down for the season is wrong, then?
A: I don’t know what the Fox report says. But the thing about it is, we’ve got two weeks left. I’m not going to sit here and say Carson is going to play in the games, but he is doing well, and we have a chance to still progress him another step further and closer.
Q: Carson says it’s important for him to have a chance to play. Is it important for you to see him throw, even if it is just practice?
A: I watch him throw every day. It would be fun for him to get back into the practice routine of being out there totally with the guys, and that would be good. Again, the healing process is going well, and we don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that. So the decision will be made based on that. We don’t want to have somebody inadvertently run into him, or anything like that at this point, when we’ve waited so long and we are where we are with only two weeks to go.
Q: Can Carson can cut it loose?
A: Oh, yeah, he can cut it loose. He’s cut the ball loose.
Q: Earlier, there were some real doom-and-gloom scenarios thrown out there about Carson …
A: Well, none of the doom and gloom was thrown out by us. I think our message, just like when he injured his knee, has been very consistent. There’s always going to be another side of the story, because if everything was going to be good, it wouldn’t do people any good to talk about it. But I think our message has been pretty consistent.
Q: Can it be said, then. that surgery isn’t necessary for Carson at this point?
A: Well, that’s been said. You can say it again if you want.
Q: But it’s final?
A: I don’t think anything will be final at any point until he’s back at 100 percent playing.

Duh! I told you guys eight weeks ago that Palmer was done for the season, that the Bengals knew it all along, but covered it up like MLB did with steroids.By Carl

If Palmer had played even 1 more game that would have made him as stuid as the rest of the jail bird Bungals. Actually he wasn’t very smart even thinking about it.By Brian

You local beat writers just aren’t Hollywood enough for Marvin. While you guys wolf down White Castles and Coca Cola, Marvin and Jay dine on Quiche Lorraine paired with a 2006 Weingut Juliusspital Iphofer Julius-Echterberg Riesling Beernauslese.By photoman

“… But I think our message has been pretty consistent”. (ML). In my mind ML has been consistently evasive in his responses to the CP arm condition.By photoman

ML said of CP … “We don’t want to have somebody inadvertently run into him.” Imagine someone inadvertently running into CP on a football field. I’d think that would qualify as premeditated “runninginto him”.
