Bengals’ Pat Sims should keep starting job
So Tank Johnson is going to push Pat Sims.
Who’s kidding whom?
Folks, it’s going to be the other way around.
Sims is going to push Johnson — right out of his way. Or at least nudge the Tank.
Sims earned the starting right defensive tackle job midway through his 2008 rookie season.
And it’s going to take a 20 mule team to get him off the field.
Sims is the incumbent. Johnson is the newcomer.
Sims envisions himself as the next Warren Sapp. I think he can do it. Johnson will complement him — not the other way around.

Sims is a 3 down guy and now that he has a year under his belt will be a better pass rusher. Tank will come in for Peko on passing situations.By sec 312

i think we’re looking at 2 different types of DT’s here. (obviously) the opponent/situation will determine the defensive front…the most important thing is, they have a variety of talented D-Lineman, now they all need to get in sync and smash some faces in. I do agree with the Chickster - Sims is the starter, i think he’s a better run-stuffer, and since most NFL games start out with offenses trying to establish the run, let Sims shut that down, then let the TANK do what he does…GET AFTER THAT QB. Ehh. Isn’t the idea to have enough quality depth on the interior D-line to have an effective rotation of guys, which keeps everyone fresh?By B

Ugh. I’m as harsh on these guys as anyone, but Tank’s past is in the past. He’s a good signing and an important cog in an improving defense. Who out there actually thought they’d be able to use the word “improving” in front of “defense” relative to the Bengals in their lifetime?!?
