Special for Marc
Most of the folks who make comments on this blog are knowledgeable and understanding folks.
There are a few like Marc whom we have to ignore. Classless folks.
As for misspelling Hairston’s name, I got it right the first time. As soon as I heard about it, I furiously typed it to get it on the blog so the readers would know about it. I had about two minutes to get to a meeting with Dusty Baker, so I didn’t proof read it. And, Marc, I don’t have editors. My posts go directly on-line.
As for the comment on my eyesight, I find that totally classless. As for retiring, I’ll determine that - but people like you push me closer to it.
To everybody else, thanks for reading and thanks for the great responses.

Hall of Fame baseball writer Hal McCoy has retired from the Dayton Daily News after covering the Cincinnati Reds for 37 years. Hal's blog, though, will continue to be a must-read for Reds fans. He'll share his thoughts on the team this season and will file updates from Great American Ball Park. You also can catch Hal in print every Sunday in his popular Ask Hal column

Hal, Again, please don’t consider retiring for one second. Although I’m in Chicago I enjoy reading your blog and articles - spelling or grammatical mistake be damned. Keep up the hard work!

Hal,ignore idiots. Last spring I had a great time at a Reds-Twins game dong trivia with other fans. My question was who are the two hall of famers in the park today? No one knew until I said Marty and YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work ( If you could call it that). We all love you.

To paraphrase a a profane tirade by then-Cubs manager Lee Elia in the early 1980s, 99 percent of the people go out and work for a living. The rest troll the Internet, looking for opportunities to take cheap shots at those who, in the course of being productive, on occasion make a minor mistake

Hal McCoy is one the best of the best. He’s as knowledgeable as they come and tells it like it is without ever throwing anyone under the bus. We’re blessed to have him!

Good Godalmighty, if ever there was a sample case for the government shutting off the Internet to the public all it would need is a random review of Cincinnati fans across the Reds, Bengals of U of Cinti. It’s not just one sack-o-dirt like Marc—the people like him are way too common nowdays. Look at poor John Fay’s blog at the Enquirer, look at the random Reds fans blogs, look here. Pathetic. Cincinnati fans can never, ever stick their nose in the air at Cubs fans, Cardinals fans, Browns fans, Raiders fans—any fans whatsoever. When you write and think and say the things you do on these blogs, you’re a loathsome, classless, clueless lot of human beings. Hopefully your children will grow up to know better, but the odds are against it. Stupid begets the stupid. It’s sports, it’s a baseball game, it’s a typo. In totality, a game doesn’t register a 0.01 in importance. And to vent such worthlessness to a person—regardless of credentials—who has a disability? Beware of lightning strikes.

Sometimes you have to ignore the jerks. This spring I sent my 2 cent opinion about the Reds going to Arizona. Hal, you personally sent me an e-mail asking for permission to use my quote in a future column. That e-mail excited me more than being quoted in the paper. A “Hall Of Fame” writer took time to write to send me a e-mail! Keep writing your blog you continue to make my day.

Marc is a moron. Anyone who reads this blog knows this. But I’m sure that Mr. McCoy appreciates Marc’s hollow apology. Marc should do all of us a favor and quit posting.

Hal Marc is clueless, I am proud to be a Reds fan and read your blog & news articles. For you to pick up on new technology after all the years in the business is amazing, across the country many of your peers are not doing the same…. Congrats to you! Growing up in LA as a Reds fan was crazy, wish we had the internet in the 70’s, I would have loved your insight then, had to settle for Jim Murray’s rants on the Dodgers and sports in general, between the two of you my love for baseball has been undeniable. Have a great day & let Trolls like Marc go pee themselves.

Yikes. I have no excuse. I apologize, Hal, to you and your family, readers and friends. What I wrote was wrong and I had no reason to write it. You deserve respect from all your readers. I know it’s probably too late, but again, I apologize for the rude, classless comments I posted.

Hal, people like Marc, don’t deserve any type of acknowledgement. However, that remark was so tasteless I had just had to add my 2 cents. The guy is just the opposite of a class act like Aaron Boone whom I remember you writing about his help and encouragement towards you! I’m glad you took Boone’s advice and continue to blog and write in your unique style about the Reds. Keep up the great work!! As for Marc he can go and @#$%^&.

Dear Hal, I have read your articles for a very long time. Please dont let one idiot blogger even make you think you have to think of retiring. Just like they say, you cant please everybody. there are bad apples that you cant change. You fo a great job reporting on the Reds and I know many that like your work. So dont let anybody ruin your day. Your a Hall of Fame writer in my book. :) PS: if you can share a idea of the Reds trading for Matt Kemp of the Dodgers, I would appreciate it before the Dodgers leave town. ;)
