Votto: still nothing but tests, tests, tests

Tests, tests, tests and more tests. That’s the life of Joey Votto these days - probed, punctured and peered at.

And still nothing.

The Cincinnati Reds first baseman underwent tests Monday at the E.W. Scripps Clinic in LaJolla, Calif. And more tests Tuesday in Cincinnati.

And there are more to come to see if it can be determined why Votto is suffering dizziness and an inability to focus

Said Reds trainer Mark Mann, “Joey has undergone a series of tests at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego and here in Cincinnati, and we have more tests scheduled over the next few days. After those additional tests, we will be more prepared to discuss the cause of his dizziness.”

Votto was in the clubhouse just prior to Tuesday’s game and said, “I can’t tell you anything right now, I just can’t say. They (the Reds) will tell you what you need to know at some point.”

Votto missed four starts May 7-10 with flu-like symptoms, then returned to the lineup in Arizona on May 11. The next day he left the game in the fourth inning, citing dizziness and a lack of focus. He returned to the lineup last Friday in San Diego, then left the game Saturday in the fourth inning.

And punish Hanigan when you sit him on the bench—make him sit next to Janish—He can’t hit, or play defense, either!

Oh yes, by all means, we fans have certainly learned to trust ownership and the GM to be truthful. perhaps they’ll write us another letter with some vaguely remote version of the truth, sort of.

I don’t think the Reds not releasing any news of Votto means it’s a bad thing. However I think Votto needs to stay home and rest. Just stay in bed until you feel healthy again. What was he doing at the park? Why is he running around taking all of these tests? Get into bed and do nothing, your body will tell you when it’s time to go. I don’t care if it’s a month. It’s better than going the Essasky route and getting so screwed up mentally that you never come back.

I got a feeling Joey has an inner ear infection.. Sometimes when you get the flu your sinus canals are blocked with infection. This can cause your equilibrium to be affected… I would say Joey will be a little bit woozy until the flu is completely out of his system… Probably another 7 to 10 days…

Hal!! PLEASE ASK DUSTY why he has such a love of letting weak hitters still bat>??? McDonald had no business batting in the ninth!! Nix should have hit for him and Owings should have batted ninth!!! But NOOOO lets let the weak hitting McDonald bat!!! this is ridiculous.. you manage to WIN, not to try not to lose!!!!! And he should have told Taveras to take a pitch.. he swung at 4 balls out of the strike zone!!!he cant flash a take sign to his 3rd base coach???? goodness.. this gets ridiculous!! they need Gomes up here pronto and if Gonzo keeps making outs, get him off the team.. sorry im venting because dusty is not managing right when he has less resources..

I don’t know which is worse: Votto being out of the lineup, or Gonzalez being in it. Gonzalez is killing this team! Give ANYONE a chance to replace him—HELL, we need HITS!

hopefully its not a serious problem, but if he needs to go on the DL, then they NEED to get Gomes up here to replace Joey’s power.. makes me ill seeing mr Out McDonald getting any at bats!!

That reads as they know the cause, it’s bad and will hurt fan morale, and they need these further tests to confirm bad news. And Joey was instructed not to tip the media as to what he has. Me no like…
