Votto leaves another game
It looks as if the Cincinnati Reds are going to have to ship Joey Votto by UPS truck (ground delivery only) or send him on a bus or put him on a horse or hire a limousine to get him from one city to the next.
Obviouisly, right now, Votto can’t fly.
Every time he flies, his inner ear infection acts up and he has to leave a game. It happened again Friday night in Milwaukee. Votto started at first base in poppe3d to short in the first inning, but when the Reds went to the field for the bottom of the second Votto was not with him. Ramon Hernandez took over at first base.
Votto and the Reds rode a charter flight Thursday night from Cincinnati to ilwaukee. On their previous trip, the Reds were on charters from Cincinnati to Phoenix and then from Phoenix to San Diego. Votto left a game in Phoenix and tried to play in San Diego but left the first game there, too.

And tonight pregame: Baker tries to make an excuse for Taveras not starting in CF, suggesting that he”TWEAKED” his hamstring. That is BS. He took him out because he isn’t hitting; and his OBP is much less than Dickerson’s is! Speaking of Dickerson/ Great Catch/three hits by the seventh inning—guess we better send him to AAA tomorrow, huh? He’s pretty bad. What do ya think, Cait; maybe he forgot to read the back of his bubble gum card? Maybe you and others might want to send him an email, and tell him that he isn’t allowed to play to the level of his competition. Guess he got too ‘hot’, huh? Geez, you might even have to watch him prove his abilities for awhile. But, even if he does, he’ll be replaced by the ‘Veteran’-because that is the way it has to be, huh? Lets not worry about winning: Lets leave Harang in too long in the fifth, when the bullpen is fresh, so we can get him a comeback win{what the crap was Baker waiting on}. Lets leave Gonzo in forever, even though he’s headed back to his funk, offensively. Don’t worry about winning-read those bubble gum cards!

I agree with Wizard in regards to that 8th inning. No doubt about it, Dusty Baker poorly managed the game last night. 7th inning 3 first pitch swings, all outs. Then we get the first two batters to lead off the 8th with hits and no bunt attempt at all to move the runners and Dickerson hits into a double play. No question about it, poorly managed game from at least the 7th inning on. Phillips should not have even batted in the 9th. I was very frustrated with Baker’s managing and thinking last night in the late innings.

I say get Votto one of those rock-star tour busses - the ones with the sleeper beds, kitchen, shower, satellite TV and plasma screens. It’ll take him longer to get places, but he’ll get there in comfort. Then, you can get him back on the plane by August. We gotta do whatever it takes to keep him in the lineup. I’m SERIOUS!!!

Taveras on base pct is.215 since May 11; and he has 14 strikeouts in 61 AB’s. Dickerson has an OBP of .520 and three strikeouts in that time, in 18 AB’s! Who should be playing CF???

Gomes can play first. They should bring up an outfielder, someone who is doing well. Maybe Lincoln or Burton could go down in order to get some work and find their pitches.

Get this dude into the Mayo Clinic. Maybe they can cure the inner ear infection. Only problem is he may be at risk to contract MRSA if he goes there.

It is very obvious by all your reactions that most of you are die hards and love this team. the thing that strikes then is the distain with which most of you talk about it. most of the people you are bashing have been in baseball all their lives. we are idiots on a message board. we like to think we are good enough to go straight into the dugout and take over this team, BUT WE AREN’T. slow down on the venim. the reason we are so worked up is because they are playing well. but common, less than fifty games in, votto missing games, phillips missing games, etc., we are a game and a half out. let the season play out and if we are lucky we will still have this same passion in september.

Tom Brenneman: ‘Taveras has 89 more at bats than Dickerson, and four less walks. Dickerson’s on base percentage is much better. And, Dickerson can play center. Now, I’m not saying replace Taveras; but playing Dickerson in his place for a while, seems like it is in order-because Chris can play center.’T. Brenneman. Tom must be reading the wizard’s suggestions, which began at the beginning of this season. In addition to this, Taveras has demonstrated all year that he is a terrible bunter{nearly the whole damn team is}. When bunting for a hit, or sacrifice, he either bunts the ball short at the plate, or directly back at the pitcher-neither place is good. His overall performance, especially OBP,just goes to show how ignorant the recommendations from bloggers is, when suggesting Dickerson go to AAA. That is stupidity. He should be alternating in center with Taveras{maybe that would encourage Taveras to steal}; and in Left with whomever is playing. His only problem, once again, is consistant playing time. Baker can tell his players to ‘be ready’ all he wants to—but, batting practice pitching ain’t the same as game-time situations! I would still like to see someone teach Dickerson how to drag bunt—the eighth inning tonight, would have been a good time to do it! Actually, the wrong guy was sent to the plate by our genius manager-Nobody out/8th inning/runners at 1st and 2nd/down a run-and you send someone up there who is not your best bunter???AND YOU DON”T BUNT???? Sorry, it is real damn difficult to support that kind of managing! Oh, and what in Phillips mind short circuited, causing him to bunt? Damn. I wonder if Tom read the wizards prediction of 88-90 wins last February? Mike-Cincy apparently didn’t.

I usually give Dusty Baker the benefit of the doubt, but I just watched him have first and second and no outs down one run and not bunt. Not even attempt a bunt. I now know he is a moron, and I am done defending him. This team could win with a manager.

If Votto can’t fly then he should not play. Maybe place him on the DL so he can get better. Gomes can play first. We just can’t keep having Joey leave every few games while BP is out with a fracture.

Hey, I’ll drive him from Milwaukee to St. Louis. A nice 6 hour ride.

I can’t believe the Reds had Votto fly to Milwaukee. It’s not that long of a drive to make on the off day.
