Most of the people commenting here don’t understand the law. this is ONLY proposed to be required for VIOLENT sexual offenders or those who’s crime was against a minor NOT the man soliciting a prostitute. also they would only be required to have the plates for 5 years and then could petition to become exempt. shame on those who have formed an opinion without knowing what it really is about!

Hey everyone:check out this link it seems some filthy male teen sex offenders had nude photoes of other students on their cell phones. If convicted they will all be added to the sex offender list and fitted out for green plates. Is this enough? I think they should be in front of a firing squad dont you?

I think hate crimes have a secure place in our society, so……….sure make the rotten bastards bare the mark.

Honestly I don’t think that way; I think the idea is ridiculous.

Make politicians that lie, sport pink tags.

How about that?

Just courious: Are pedophiles the Jews of 21st Century?

There used to be a law, that certain minority was required to wear a yellow star of David on their sleeve. The law was writen with purpose to easily identify the undesirable minority. We all know what happen to that minority and to those who wrote that law. It was written to ‘protect and save’ the Arian Race from inpure genes.

It was called “Faschismus”. Wake up People! This law will be used (slightly modified)against you one day.

I REALLY hate to say this but… I don’t think it’s a good idea to make sex offenders have green tags. I like the basic principle involved there. The problem is, how many people will be confronted in front of a child because of a green tag? How many will be run off the road, risking a child’s life? How will it TRULY keep a child safe? STAY INFORMED PEOPLE!! The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office has a website and they send out a notification when someone moves within a mile of you.

While I agree sex offenders need to be punished. We are forgetting one very important part of our legal system and that is the right to be free from cruel and unusal punishment.

These plates would make sure that the debt to society is NEVER paid. These plates will not solve the problem. The will take bad matters and make them worse. Our law makers should open thier eye’s before proposing such STUPID legislation

P.S. I’m not a convicted sex offender, or even an alledged offender

I can understand Rage’s feelings on this! We are so worried about sex crimes that it is now an obsession for the nation and government. False accusations are extremely high with studies showing false rape and child molestation accusations being around 50% of those made. These are only the cases where they ADMIT they lied and doesn’t include those who refuse to admit it because they risk being prosecuted which are in the “undetermined” classification.

By Quentin

March 7, 2007 7:30 AM | Link to this

I have been investigated repeatedly and had to spend a fortune defending against false accusations and even though the courts now even admit they were false, my accuser faces no penalties for wasting police time or destroying my life. Prosecuting false accusers is not politically correct and risks them losing votes so they won’t do it. Add in that Ohio can require you register as a sex offender based on an accusation with no criminal conviction and there are serious problems with this idea!

I’m 32 year old white male and I am a registered sex offender. Do you want to know for what?

I’ve worked in a construction business and at night, I worked as bouncer in a fancy nightclub. Then one night, I have parked my SUV in a dark alley to get a kiss from one of the many waitresses I have dated in that club. Out of nowhere, a cop pulled right behind me. He got out of his cruser and proceed to check me out. He ordered me out of the car and tried to caft me. Breef strugle followed and before I knew, I pushed him to the ground. He drew his gun and pointed it at me. At that point, I knew I was finnished. He ordered me to lay on a ground and call for backup.

They fund some drugs on that girl. I was a year later that I have learnt that she have striked a ‘deal’ with the cops for letting her off the hook if she say that I have tried to rape her.

For that I got 6 years in a slammer, plus 2 years for resisting arrest. I was out in 5 years. No probation. I have lost everything I ever had. My house, my girlfriend, all my savings and my SUV. All I have is Anger. And Rage. And hatetrate towards my country and all the people. I have no sympathy for anything or anyone. Only anger. A real raging anger. I will get those green plates. I want them. I want them really bad. And to shotgun and daveB, I want to see you. A man to man. And God have mercy, because I have none left. Only rage boiling inside. You have no idea. You have no frigging idea. I’ve got nothing to loose. I got nothing to live for. Nothing…… Nothing. My life is ruined. I can’t get a decent job, I can’t get a loan from the bank. But one day, …..one day I will get even. If it is the last thing I will ever do. They make some fine wheelchairs in this country. I’ll guarantee you, that you’ll need one.

Good evening my fellow Americans.

My name is Mark Foley. I am a Senior House Member and a Chairman of a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children here in Washington D.C.

I’m running for re-election next year. Therefore, I will be introducing a bill on a House floor that will deal harshly with sexual predators.

I will introduce a bill that will put everyone even remotely associated with sex and children under 18 years of age before the firing squad.

This strong measure is necessary to keep American citizens Safe and Free. The constitution doesn’t apply here, since we’re protecting the children.

I know, that sex offenders have the lowest recidivism in all of the groups. But you don’t have to know that. All you have to do is to vote for me. You can trust me. I have your children on my mind all the time. Especially the boys.

There are many lawmakers in both Houses of Congress that feel the same way. We all do our best and will do almost anything to get your vote. But above all, we truly love your children.

So I’am asking you my fellow Americans, Please vote for us, and don’t think. Let the government do it for you. It’s for the children. You know.

My Best Regards, and God Bless our Children.

Sincerely Mark Foley. Chairman of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

It would be even better if sex offenders received more jail time to begin with..but then they wouldn’t have enough room for all the drug dealers that the judicial system seems to think are a worse degree of scum than the sex offenders. I say they develop some kind of collar that delivers an electric shock upon arousal. They would be on “Pants arrest” so to speak…but what do I know..I’m no judge..I just want things to be fair.

Right FallenOne, people think RSO’s are weaklings and cowards. Read about one who was a Army Ranger or Navy Seal, real combat veteran. He got “jumped” by a couple of vigilanties and before it was over the vigilanties were hospitalized, one will be blind in one eye for the rest of his life. Most RSO’s no longer have anything left to lose so people need remember history and the ZOB. You can only beat a dog so long before it bites you back, viciously. The Nazi’s learned this lesson in Poland.

“And when a “tagged” vehicle is run off the road or attacked and the occupants are innocent relatives and children of the Offender then what? They deserved it? Over 26 Registered Sex Offenders were “murdered” last year by vigilanties just using Registry Information and now you want to make it easier. In one case they also beat the Offenders girl friend to death in their frenzy. So when “vigilanties” kill a couple of children will their deaths generate a law banning these tags. I doubt it. Guns, Drugs, and alcohol kill and injure more children each year than Sex Offenders but few laws are being proposed for them. Sex Offenders gets votes! Not dead children.”

The problem is that people spend too much time focusing on ineffective laws but do nothing to prevent sex crimes. These laws do not teach our children appropriate sexual behavior, nor clean up the sex charged smut in the media, etc. Laws deter nothing. The only thing that changes what a person thinks is his own will. However, glorifying teenage sex in media (like “American Pie”) is like dangling a crack rock to a crack head. Wake up people!

Some sex offenders may actually try to change there lives for the better. Labeling them for society to see would really make it hard for them to advance on. Imagine driving up to your local grocery store, having this plate on your car. Not only would people stare at you, but you would have things thrown at you, people following you to harrash you, and possibly even follow you to your home to destroy your property. I am rather indifferent on the subject. Its a good idea, but also a bad one.

Sadly Pete, you’re right. The myth and hysteria generated by the media and politians with false statistics and misleading statements is the news, not the death of a child. Sex Offenses gets votes and media ratings. A childs death does not serve their ends unless “Sex” is somehow attached. Yet they cry, “Save the Children.”

We love that good olde catch phase, “If it saves one child it is worth it.” So why not apply this to Firearms which kill and injure more children each year than any Sex Offender. Or Alcohol which is also responsible for more dead and injured children than Sex Offenders. Bet you all are “singing” a different story now. The catch phase you all should be using is “If it saves one child it is worth it, as long as it doesn’t affect me.” It will affect you eventually.

Remember that these evil, deviant child molesters sometimes have to transport their victims. How do you think people would react if you saw a 4 year old little boy or girl riding in a car with these kind of plates? I think that if this law prevented one child from being molested or worse maybe its worth it.Of course there is a wide range of questions that still have to be answered and you would definitely have a vigilante problem.

By today’s standards almost everyone I know would be a sex offender for having teenaged sex. If it’s the younger kids you’re worried about, watch them and keep them out of cars. They are much more likely to be killed in an accident. Over 97% of kids are sexually abused by a friend, relative, or someone they know and trust. Over 95% of all sex crimes are committed by someone not on a registry. Stranger danger is extremely rare. Stop the hysteria! Stop the hate! Accept responsibility.

Green tags. 1. Have your mommy own the car and you just drive it, becuase it is not fair that you got 5 years just because you were trolling for young trim and got caught. 2. Have your wife own the car because she is either to stupid to leave you or believes your lies.
Green tags: Son, wife, mother, daughter, friend, mechanic driving offenders car, gets ran off the road by a holier than thou and killed.
Conclusion: Way to easy to get around, dangerous for the innocent, ergo worthless.

I am truly amazed at the hate-filled comments I am reading on these e mails. Obviously, the yellow tags would cause vigilantism, due to the societal demonizing of sex offenders. The license plates aren’t really going to solve anything and would cause a great deal of problems for innocent family members.

Secondly, most child molesters don’t go cruising for victims among strangers; they look to those children around them, the children who trust them and whom they can build a relationship.

No, green license plates won’t accomplish anything. Is there anything that can be done to PREVENT people from becoming sex offenders in the first place?? Nobody seems to be talking about that. I am tired of society having sex offenders everywhere — we keep pushing them further and further into concentrations — away from schools, away from parks, etc. Pretty soon, they will have their own neighborhoods! What then?? License plates are not the answer!

Green plates are not going to accomplish anything except allow the person driving the vehicle to become the target of a hate crime. And the person driving the auto could quite possibly be an innocent victim. There is no hope for people who molest children, there is no cure. Child molesters do need to be locked up for life just as if they were on death row, with no contact whatsoever with anyone else either inside or outside of the prison. The maximum penalty for importuning is 3 years, yet a judge recently in Ohio gave a 30 odd year old man, only 18 MONTHS, for raping a 13 year old girl!! She, on the other hand, gets to have a LIFE SENTENCE of dealing with the trauma of her abuse. I should know, I was sexually abused!! So don’t give me this crap that they’re being misunderstood! Mommies and Daddies who havent been caught yet are molesting their kids in EVERY Ohio town, but only 5-15% of convicted sex offenders repeat another sex crime, only murderers have a lower repeat rate. My concern with this is if it REALLY does target the worst offenders. Right now, you can find listings for “sexually-oriented offenders” and its not the rapists or child molesters. Its guys who solicited an undercover police woman for prostitution, or a guy who violated a law while operating a sexually oriented business, such as a strip club. In any event, the law seems intent on continuing punishment after the court-ordered punishment has been served.

Christ, if anyone has a “disease” it’s the sex offenders. I’d rather see the alcoholics in jail (they kill more people per year) and sex offenders getting the treatment they need.

I think that the green plates are a great idea!! Who cares about the consequences for the perverts!! What they have done to their victim will never change. GO FOR IT!!!!!

Tim, have fun running people off the road. When you get arrested for vehicular homicide you might end up with one of those sex offenders as a cellmate. Hope he treats you nice!

GROW UP, Where is the person who killed your father and the person who hurt you? Do they live next door to me or maybe my sister with to two young children? Or may next to the locale school? Defend is the right word for want you are saying…. BE WISE, EUTHANIZE.

  1. What crimes does this encompass? I don’t think an 18 year old who dates a 15 year old (and has sex) should have a green license plate the rest of his life…but I do think violent rapists should.
  2. There is a difference between Chester Molester at 30-40 years of age and someone who is 18-21.
  3. Mark my words. People will react violently to this. Someone in a “green” car who gets harassed will not always look the other way. Neither will his/her friends.

Who’s defending Sex offenders? All we are saying is that the license plates will accomplish nothing. Other than induce MORE violence and hate. And you have so eloquently proven that exact point! You assume I have NO IDEA what Im talking about, but not only was I a victim of a sexual offender, but my father was killed by one. No, the people who commit these offenses don’t think of other people.. But shouldn’t we?? Isn’t that what seperates us from them? Be better that!

back into society. As for Jeannie; your son is getting off easy. I would fight to put him behind bars longer. What is the difference if your son went to do this henious act and was caught vs. someone going to act in murder but at the last minute was caught also. Does that mean the person who wanted to commit murder should be let off scot free? I do not blame you for his actions as some are, but your son choose to do something demented and deserves his sentence as well as getting help.

I feel that the offenders need to spend the rest of their lives in prision, with no frills! They have taken from an innocent person and that person will never be able to get that innocence back. So why should the offender be given their “life” back (if they have even been convicted!). So why bother with any type of “markings” for these persons - keep them behind bars. If our states cannot keep them for prision crowding and so forth; turn them into eunchs (castrate them)before letting them (cont)

I think yellow plates for drunk drivers is good. I usually drive far away from these people, but I do not have a desire to run them off the road. I am sure if I had a family member killed by one, I would think differently. I am on the fence about green plates for sex offenders. Its just one more thing the government will be making money on and one more thing for BIG BROTHER to watch over us. Before you know it I will have a red one for having a wide load!

Sex offenders and DUI offenders should not had offened if embarrassment to innocent family members was a there concern. And there privacy what about about the privacy of the person the offener offened? The OFFENDER wasn’t thinking about the people than right?

Absolutley not. What would it accompolish. and not only that what if some one else was driving the car other than the sex offender. If you put the plates on a car you are inviting violence and vandalism. As it stands if you are register through you local sheriffs office for sexual predator up dates you are emailed whenever one moves into your area. You are told not to bother them, If you put plates on someones car that will give people a license to do what ever they want to that persons car.

The direction this comment section has taken PROVES the fact. These plates are a BAD IDEA. People in general have a Mob Mentallity. “Shoot first, ask questions later.” There aren’t a lot of distingushing perameters with the “sexual preditor” law. Wait ‘till you get caught using the bathroom behind a dumpster or a car at a bar. Then you get your picture up on that site for everyone to see. Tell me what you think THEN. GROW UP

Sex offenders and DUI offenders deserve harsh punishment. However, “scarlet letter” license plates bring pain and embarrassment to innocent family members. We are not a one-person, one-car society yet. This is a gross invasion of privacy.

I am SICK TO DEATH of these types of issues. What does the color of someone license plate do? NOTHING! Wake up people! If someone has a green plate, does that stop them from being a preditor? NO!!! This is witch hunting legislation. NOTHING ELSE. When will U wake up and quit letting the GOV tell you whats good for you and making it law. Civil liberties?? Remember those? Yeah, good luck b/c they are fading FAST. Soon they will pass a law that certain foods are illegal. Wait, they already have!

Here’s a thought: What about a violent sex offender from another state that comes here and doesn’t register? He’s found out, the sheriff is informed and 2 months have gone by. Nothing has been done about it so far. Come to find out through other sources he was charged with molesting a child under thirteen twice within 3 weeks. Granted he went to jail. The point is he never registered here. He has been caught peeking in neighbors windows, harassing neighbors, and yet nothing is being done.

Jeannie, I think I know the detective who busted your son. I’ve seen him at work and he’s talked to my daughter and her friends about sexual predators on the internet. The only way your son could have found him was if he visited those chat rooms called things like “young girls looking for older men.” The cop has ways of determining whether the man is specifically trying to date a much younger girl. I know you’re hurt but the blame belongs on your son, not the cop who savesd real 14-year-olds.

I can’t believe that mother of the 19 year old is really blaming everyone but him.lady he might not have had sex with a14 year old but he sure was wanting to and thinking about it.I think you should take a good look at your son and stop making excuses for him.he is a sick person and with you babying him he will think it’s ok to do it again then what.Yes i would like to see the plates get the ok because if it helped one kid it would be worth it.If we don’t stick up for our kids who will.

I think 3 strike your out law is crap why are we even talking about plates for cars? If a Person has Raped once he or she should lose freedom forever the person raped has lose something forever. Why should we let them out. To Rape again we as parent and as ohio should write are governor and change the time in jail laws for sex offenders.

By kate

March 1, 2007 12:29 PM | Link to this

So how would a parent know who to be aware of when they’re “roaming the streets”? Do they wear the license plate around their neck? I can see if maybe the car is parked in front of someone’s house, but sex offenders have garages too. What kind of parent lets their kid think it’s ok to go into a stranger’s house or car anyway?

Who should parents be aware of for their child’s safety? EVERYONE. That’s who.

By dawn

I think it would only bring about violence and hatred.

Isn’t it interesting how there are more and more stories about men abusing children? What’s going on? I think this is an issue that SHOULD be studied to find out WHY men do this.

To answer your question John, if the guy is both a boozer and a molestor, he just has “LOSER” on his plate, in whatever color our local inmate decides to make. What would you rather not see in your rear view…a raging drunk or a pervert? That’s a tough one…

IT WOULD HELP IN A PARENT BEING ABLE TO KNOW WHO THEY WOULD DEFINITELY NEED TO BE AWARE OF FOR THEIR CHIDREN’S SAFETY.THESE PEOPLE ARE ROAMING OUR STREETS LOOKING FOR THESE CHILDREN.I KNOW THIS BECAUSE OUR FAMILY HAD AN EIGHT YEAR OLD WHO WAS RAPED AND MURDERED AND HER BODY WAS DUMPED IN A CREEK.THIS HAPPENED IN 1973 AND THE LAWS HAVEN’T IMPROVED BECAUSE THEY AREN’T GETTING THE JAIL SENTENCES THAT THEY DESERVE.THEY TAKE LIVES AND GIVE LIVES A LIFETIME OF BAD MEMORIES. SHE WOULD BE 42 YEARS OLD.

I completely understand those who are saying we need to focus on the victims, but nobody has explained yet exactly what a green license plate will accomplish for the victims, and why the money is better spent on flashy plates rather than, say, counseling assistance and other programs for victims, more room in prisons, and etc.

Jeanie, how would you feel if you had a 14 year old daughter, or your son, was being picked up by a 19 year old? Your son is a FREAK and should rot in jail, wear a funny hat, not be allowed to live in certain areas, have a GPS chip implanted, have his weiner removed, AND drive with funky green plates!! hell, you should have to put green plates on your car for raising such a drain on society!!! you suck!!
