i live in Columbus and i completely agree with Palmer. Ohio state fans are incredibly annoying…they flip cars and burn couches when they lose for goodness sakes! if you call that having class then the buckeye definition of class must be different. and by everyone freaking out about this further proves his point. im sure Carson palmer genuinely hates Jim tressel and the whole Ohio state team. he wasnt personally attacking anyone but rather making a generalization. I am a OSU and Bengals fan. I have been living in Pac 10 country (seattle) for the past 3 years, and I think that i am a bigger osu fan because I want to hang on to my ohio roots. so i can blame carson for rooting for usc. With that said i hope that osu beat the hell out of usc.

Carson Palmer, you are correct to have your own opinion. But to make a harsh statement as that you can’t stand the buckeyes is a little much. I’m a huge OSU fan and I would NOT trash talk USC. With over 300,000 living alumni, the most of any school, Buckeye fans are everywhere. Ohio State has its share of bandwagon fans, but the demand for tickets at Ohio State is incomprehensible. There are 105,000 in the stadium every home game, and another 200,000 within a mile of the stadium tailgating. If the Shoe sat 205,000, it would still sell out every week, through thick and thin. Something Palmer’s USC Condoms can’t fathom. Their comeupance is on 9/13/08.

Friends and neighbors, there is athing called mutual respect. I personally am a buckeye fan, but I also am a Bengal fan and that would also include Carson Palmer seeing he is the Bengal QB. As for the buckeyes, they have dropped the ball in the big game (2) years running, being blown off the field in both games. Don’t let pride get in your way of humility, everyone loses now and then. Keep it honest, and work toward a better year, 2008.

First of all, to everyone generalizing about OSU fans. Not all OSU fans are the same, and many are them are OSU grads including myself. Alumni tickets sell out every year. There are plenty of OSU fans that stick by the Buckeyes through good and bad and we still sell out our stadium no matter how our season goes. As far as Carson Palmer, its one thing to cheer for USC, but its not neccessary to put Ohio State down in the process. That just shows a lack of class.

I’m sure all Buckye Fans can appreciate someone backing their school. Wouldn’t they want the same from their players that are in the NFL. Eddie George and others have always backed the Buckeyes. I never seen the Titan Fans get bent out of shape because Eddie played in Tennessee. Class Fans can appreciate the players that back the schools that made them the player that they are!

This just shows how truly idiotic Buckeye fans can be. Growing up in SW Ohio I have witnessed it all my life. If they win they want to rub it in your face, and if they lose there is always some excuse (refs, injuries, etc..) There is no difference between Buckeye fans and Steeler fans, they both act the same.

Is this stroy really even worth talking about? The guy went to USC. The two schools play arguably the most anticipated September game in decades. Why would anyone expect him to pull for anyone other than his alma mater, just because he plays for the Bengals? This story should’ve ended when it stopped discussing the Johnson-Palmer realtionship.

As a few before have said, the problem wasn’t that Carson rooted for USC, that’s stupid, as someone who grew up a Buckeye fan I will always love OSU. As someone with a Degree from Miami I will always be a Redhawk (Yes I’m post Redskins). That doesn’t mean that I’m going to talk crap about their fans. I’ll even give Carson room to talk about the coaches as well as the team. But to bash “those people” who pay your salary, that’s just dumb. Root for your team,good natured kidding. Don’t be stupid.

you think you have it bad? I am a transplanted Cincinnatian working in Columbus. I thought Kentucky basketball fans were bad until moving here. There is nothing but OSU all year round. And the fans take a delight in turning someone who doesn’t care about OSU, like me, into a “hater”. The prevailing belief up here is that SW Ohio doesn’t cheer enough for the Luckeyes and that we should be part of KY. Minor league city, no soul…Penile envy

Palmer, a so-so pro quarterback and stellar college quarterback is certainly entitled to his opinions; his affinity for his alma mater is understandable. He’s helped raise the excitement for the game, so I’ve got nothing against him. Still, the funniest thing I’ve heard is the local ESPN station running a “highlight” segment of Palmer’s thrown interceptions set to Beck’s song “Loser.” Hysterical!

Just because you live in Ohio does not mean you have to be an OSU fan - Carson should support his school. If your job transferred you to Michigan would you support Michigan football? I think not - so get over yourselves for heaven’s sake and let Carson support his school. That does not mean we Bengals fans should support Carson any less. It is one thing to say you don’t like a team. But to get personal and rip their coach and fans is quite a different thing. And in reality, he is doing exactly what he says he hates about OSU fans. The old “do as I say, not what I do” adage applies to him. I don’t think fans will be too forgiving. He isn’t even that good of a QB to be spouting off about the favorite team in Ohio.

Carson seems to have a problem with loyal fans. His comments weren’t directed at poor performances in NC games, or preseason rankings, or OSU v. SEC in bowl games, or how he hopes his Trojans will beat a great OSU team. His comments were directed at the university, the team, the coach, and how most Ohioians generally and vocally express their love for all of the above. He should have remembered how he feels about his school before he stuck his hot dog in his mouth.

Both are great programs, both have great coaches, both have their share of obnoxious fans (who doesn’t). One of theirs happens to QB the Bengals.
