Man who shot teenage mother in face will be sentenced June 8
DAYTON — A Dayton man accused of shooting a teenage mother in the face while her 3-year-old son sat between her legs will be sentenced Monday, June 8.
Gregoryon T. Williams, 18, of 36 Gordon Ave., was to go on trial Monday, June 1, on two counts of felonious assault and one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon. He pleaded guilty to all charges on May 26.
Police said Williams had a drug-related felony conviction as a juvenile.
The Jan. 8 shooting incident at the DeSoto Bass public housing complex was originally described as the result of a game of Russian roulette, though police later said it was an actual assault.
Williams, the teenage girl, the boy, and a woman were in an apartment in the 1700 block of Banker Street at about 10:45 p.m., although none of them lived there. Williams and the 17-year-old girl had a disagreement, and Williams picked up a .357-caliber Magnum revolver, police said.
Williams emptied five of the six bullets from the cylinder and pointed the gun at the girl. While the teenager and the woman pleaded with Williams to put the gun down, he pulled the trigger three times while holding the revolver less than two feet from the teenager’s face. On the third pull, the gun went off, sending a bullet into the girl’s lower jaw, police said.
Williams fled and was arrested at 11:20 p.m. at 4744 Germantown Pike, according to jail records.
The teenager was transported to Miami Valley Hospital , where she underwent surgery to remove the bullet from her throat. Her wound was not considered life threatening, police said.
The woman witness originally told police the incident was “like a game of Russian roulette,” according to police.
The 3-year-old was not harmed, although he was covered in his mother’s blood when police found him, police said.

At the least, this was attempted murder. I don’t care if he is just 18 y/o. He needs to be confined for a very long time, to prevent any future incidents (wouldn’t go so far as the death penalty tho).By Doesnt take a dummy

A Barret .50 caliber rifle is an amazing weapon in properly trained hands. I suggest a contest between properly trained operators of this weapon. Alas, I am not yet fully qualified…yet…but would like to watch. Let Mr. Williams loose in a designated/pre-determined area. Allow the trained .50 Cal. operators operate their rifle. If Mr. Williams “wins”…he goes to prison. If Mr. Williams loses, it’s into “the box”. It’s one hell of alot fairer than the rules he provided…Comments????By Jack

How awful for the teenahe mother and her small child. The way the justice system works now, this BOY will get a smack on the hand and a good scolding. Of course the fact that Ohio prisons are already overflowing with more crazys just like this will be a good excuse to go easy. HOW SAD!!!By Anon

On 01/15/2009 Gregoryon T. Williams, 18, of received an INDICTMENT FOR FELONIOUS ASSAULT (DEADLY WEAPON), FELONIOUS ASSAULT (SERIOUS HARM), HAVING WEAPONS UNDER DISABILITY (PRIOR DRUG CONV) On 05/27/2009 Gregoryon T. Williams, 18, plead guilty to count 3 HAVING WEAPONS UNDER DISABILITY (PRIOR DRUG CONV) court records show the document he signed states he could receive 1-5 years in prison. Lets see what judge o’connell thinks the appropriate sentence should be. I predict that given judge oconnell’s prior actions that the sentence for count 3 will be, if anything, 6 months to run concurrent with the sentence for count 1 & 2. This would of course be NO ACTUAL PRISON TIME FOR THE USE OF AN ILLEGAL FIREARM. On 05/27/2009 Gregoryon T. Williams, 18, plead guilty to counts 1 & 2 felonious assault with a 3 year firearm spec ON EACH COUNT. The guilty plea court document signed by judge oconnell states that Williams could receive 2-8 years on each count and 3 yrs. MANDATORY on each firearm spec. Here is a case that the defendant should receive 16 years if judge oconnell should decide to follow the law. The actuality is as follows. judge oconnell will violate the law and dismiss the firearm specs out of hand so expect no prison time for the use of the firearm. judge oconnell will dismiss the firearms under disability charge so expect no prison time there. Oconnell will sentence this idiot to 12 months in prison and then issue a judicial release in 9 months. mat heck will allow oconnell violate the law and not appeal this decision.I sincerely hope and pray that I am dead wrong. I will apologize publicly if oconnell actually does the right thing. Let’s just see what happens.By catz
