Walnut Hills Family Care physician pleads guilty to drug conspiracy charge
DAYTON — A local physician accused of being part of a prescription drug ring pleaded guilty Wednesday, June 10, in U.S. District Court to a conspiracy count.
Dr. Richard Sievers, 53, of Oakwood, is the ninth person who has pleaded guilty to participating in the conspiracy. All are awaiting sentencing.
Judge Thomas M. Rose will set a sentencing date for Sievers. Conspiracy to distribute controlled substances is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment
The conspirators illegally distributed more than 700,000 dosage units of controlled substances from a storefront medical clinic in Dayton between January and November 2007, according to authorities.
Sievers operated Walnut Hills Family Care, located at 1900 Wayne Ave. in Dayton. Sievers conspired with others to distribute prescription drugs including Amphetamine, OxyContin, Vicodin, Xanax, and Methadone, according to court documents.
Sievers wrote or approved prescriptions that were not issued for a legitimate medical purpose and were not in the usual course of his medical practice. The “patients” were not given proper medical examinations prior to the issuance of the prescriptions for the controlled substances. The “patients” would then provide money in return for the issuance of the prescriptions. The “patients” picked up the prescriptions at Walnut Hills Family Care, according to court documents.

Pdavid, did you ever consider the fact that the doc might be an addict as well? Docs(humans) who are addicts make poor decisions too.

I wonder how many people will respond with the opinion that the patients are also responsible for taking the pills. The Doc is guilty, but no one made them put it in their mouth!

I was a patient at one time, and he wouldn’t prescribe me any pain meds! I do think it possible that he had a problem himself. He was definitely “weird.”

He knew he was wrong, and like any one else, he deserves his just reward. Sad, but, it’s life. You reap what you sow!

This man is a good dr, a wonderful person with a big heart that loves his family. If he is guilty he’s guilty, but I will never believe that he set out to traffic drugs. A bad judgement call that took on a life of its own by the hand of others is what I believed happened. I will continue to pray for him and and his family to get through this and put it all behind them. God Bless

Trafficking drugs is about making money; it’s lucrative and tax free. This wasn’t due to addiction or depression, it was greed. 700,000 unit doses—think how many times he chose to break the law.

I was his patient back in ‘99, and he was a caring and thoughtful doctor to me. I am so sad that he was involved in something as sordid as this. I know that if he did wrong he has to pay, but I would be wrong not to say something about the good he did for me. God bless the families that have been hurt from the drugs.

Concerned, You must be a drug seeking whore as Dr. Corcoran is one of the most outstanding doctors in the area. He would never do anything to jeopardize the safety and health of his patients and is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure that he provides the best care possible. How dare you you say such lies and the have the audacity to post it on the web. You are a coward and should be ashamed of yourself.

I have been a patient and friend to Dr. Sievers for 18 years. He is a kind and caring doctor. He trusted the wrong people to run his office and if you read the paper in November you will realize he did not have any of the money. He did not gain anything from this He was railroaded. I will continue you to pray that the judge will see the truth and that God will give Dr. Sievers strength. I pray for his family as well. A Great Family God Bless you Doc.

My husband and I both were patients of Dr. Sievers when he had a legit practice . He had a great staff. They suffered greatly when he just one day decided he didn’t want to come back to work anymore . But he did come back to work a while later with a different staff, drug dealers!I always thought he was a nice man but something always seemed alittle off about him . But mentally unstable or not drug dealin is drug dealin and he has to pay the price.
