Officers arrived at Grandview about 8 p.m. to find a burned hospital bed outside and staff trying to restore order in the hospital’s emergency room, according to a police report.

Nurses said Christopher Jervis was intoxicated and set his bed on fire, the report stated.

Huber Heights medics transported Jervis to the hospital earlier that day after he was found passed out in some weeds along a road, the report stated.

Doctors said Jervis was given medication that could make him drowsy, but the man became belligerent instead, the report stated.

Jervis asked if he could smoke in his room and was told he couldn’t by a nurse, the report stated. Jervis’ room was then locked, and he told nurses he set the fire because “it was the only way to get the door open,” according to the report.

Jervis faces an aggravated arson charge and could be charged with additional crimes, according to police.

Why didn’t the staff take the lighter away from a drunk patient. Seems like they put alot of people at risk.
