Public rally scheduled at market where owner was shot in face

DAYTON - Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer and other community leaders are holding a anti-gun violence rally at the scene of a recent shooting Saturday, June 27, at 1 p.m.

The event will be outside the Lexington Market at the corner of Rosedale and Lexington avenues, Plummer said.

“We aren’t going to stand for this kind of stuff anymore and we are going to make ourselves very visible to those responsible for all this nonsense,” Plummer said.

The market was the scene of gang-related robbery June 15. The store’s owner, Eid Sarama, was shot in the face about 11 a.m., police said.

Sarama is still recovering from his injuries, but it is unclear how much damage his face sustained. The suspect has yet to be caught.

Anyone with information is urged to call 333-COPS.

Northmont coach found with teen girl resigns

By Doug Page and Kyle Nagel

ENGLEWOOD —Loren P. Meadows, a Northmont High School teacher and coach, resigned Thursday, June 25, two days after he was arrested on resisting arrest and obstructing official business charges in Clinton County.

Meadows submitted his one-sentence resignation letter at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Englewood police chief Mark Brownfield said, “After our investigation, there are no indications of any crime begin committed in our jurisdiction.”

The investigation in Union, where Meadows lives, is continuing, said Lt. Steve Watern. Watern would not comment further.

Meadows, 35, was a social studies teacher, assistant football coach and head boys and girls track coach at Northmont.

Meadows was arrested shortly after midnight on Tuesday after Clinton County sheriff’s deputies found Meadows and a 17-year-old girl from Englewood both partially clothed in her car parked in a secluded area of Clarksville. Meadows struggled with deputies and was Tasered during the arrest.

During subsequent interviews with deputies, Meadows and the girl said they had a four-month-long sexual relationship that began while she was a student of his and a member of his track team. They denied that any sexual activity occurred in the car Tuesday.

DAYTON — Police arrested a pair of sisters on Wednesday, June 24, on charges of soliciting after they told police they were out on North Main Street trying to earn money to buy crack because one had a birthday the next day.

Yolanda D. Twitty, 42, and Carmen D. Harris, 44, were arrested at 7:15 p.m. after they allegedly offered sexual activity in exchange for money to an undercover Dayton police detective, according to a police report.

The detective first spotted the sisters along North Main Street, where they appeared to be arguing, the report said. Twitty then smiled at the detective, so he drove over to them and they got into his unmarked car, the report said.

Twitty then told the detective both sisters would perform sexual acts with him, but not the same time, the report said.

“We sisters,” Twitty said, according to the report. “We can’t do anything together.”

After their arrest, the sisters told police that Thursday, June 25, was Harris’ birthday and that they wanted to earn money to buy crack for the occasion, the report said.
