The initial investigation showed that the parties began an argument about a broken mop Monday night, and it escalated Tuesday. The adult female, who lives on the second floor of the building, apparently stabbed the juvenile female, who lives on the third floor, Chabali said.

The juvenile’s mother then apparently stabbed the adult female, Chabali said. During the fray, someone sprayed Mace that affected several more people, and another juvenile was injured by the baseball bat, Chabali said.

The action occurred inside both apartments and spilled into a grassy area outside the building facing North James H. McGee Boulevard, which brought a large crowd that continuing watching the medical and police response 45 minutes later.

Police are continuing to investigate what charges will come from the incident, Chabali said.
