Man convicted of running ‘large’ drug-trafficking organization
DAYTON - A federal jury has convicted a 40-year-old man who used several businesses in the Dayton area to help traffic “large” quantities of cocaine across multiple states, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Anthony “Tricky” Baltimore, of Dayton, faces a mandatory life prison sentence after a jury convicted him of related charges late Tuesday night, Nov. 24, in Judge Walter Rice’s court room in Dayton.
U.S. Attorney Carter Stewart said Baltimore led a drug-trafficking organization that reached into parts of Kentucky, California, Washington D.C. and Texas. He distributed “hundreds of kilograms or marijuana, cocaine and heroin in southern Ohio and Lexington, Ky.”
Dayton police and Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer’s Office assisted locally in the investigation of Baltimore, authorities said.
More than 60 witnesses testified in the case, some reporting that Baltimore used businesses, including auto dealership Prestige Imports, to conceal money made from drug-trafficking, authorities said.
Judge Rice has yet to schedule a sentencing hearing. Baltimore has been in federal custody since October of 2007.
