Flyers hang on for one-point win
Rob Lowery scored 13 points, including a driving lay-up with 5.4 seconds left to give Dayton a 72-71 win over visiting Fordham on Wednesday.
The Flyers (15-2, 1-1) had a 70-66 lead with 19 seconds left, but the Rams (2-13, 0-3) hit a 3-pointer, forced a turnover and converted two free throws with 10.1 seconds to go.
Fordham turned the ball over after Lowery’s bucket, allowing the Flyers to hold on.

This programs a joke. Brag about attendance non-stop but the Arena is half empty with a minute left and the game on the line. Pathetic.By dg

Terrible night at the arena. I don’t care about the flu or anything, there are no excuses. That team lost to St. Bonaventure at home by 15. I will be at the Duquesne game Saturday, why I don’t know. That team will beat us by 30 if we play like we have the last week. These next two games set the direction of this season (and maybe this program), and its tough to be confident after seeing what we just saw tonight, especially when adding this fantastic statistic…6-19 in our last 25 conference road games.By Ron

Dayton holds Fordham to 71. Looks like the UD defense is catching up with the UD offense in terms of intensity. This is going to be another long A-10 season.By Jake

In response to Matt’s comments, of course the arena is going to be less crowded on a night where a snow storm is taking place. People in this area freak out when the word snow is heard thats most likely the reason the arena was less crowded, geniusBy aaubasketball

Um, Jake I think Matt was referring to how our fans at UD don’t like to stay until the game is over. There was a shirt made during the Jim O’Brien era that said “I stayed until the game was over” and you only got it if you did stay that late.By aaubasketball

Starting a center that can’t score, and a guard that won’t shoot the ball just doesn’t doesn’t cut it. It’s time to select a starinhg 5 and stay with them. If they were in the game for more that a couple of minutes at a time, maybe they could get loose and get things done. If a player can’t play more that a couple of minutes without needing a rest they’s something wrong. Also a team shooting foul shots that bad should be back out on the floor after the game shooting about 100 each.By Bhoops

I don’t get it. Is there some type of loyalty to Huelsman? Searcy runs the floor, rebounds, blocks shots, shoots free throws and has a decent turnaround. At the very minimum, balance the minutes between Searcy and Huelsman and give him a chance. In regards to the sub-pattern, I get the philosophy of going deep in your bench to keep fresh legs on the court. Problem is, this doesn’t give our core players the minutes they need to find the rhythm of the game. CW, MJ, and CJ. I don’t get it…
