Berry gives Flyers verbal commitment
Jesse Berry, a high-scoring guard from Lafayette, Ind., committed to the University of Dayton, becoming the program’s third recruit in the 2010 class.
The 6-foot-1 senior-to-be averaged 27.5 points as a junior last season — second in Indiana high school ranks only to Ohio State recruit DeShaun Thomas (30.1) — and set a Lafayette Jefferson school record with a 55-point explosion.
He joins Oak Hill Academy point guard Juwan Staten and Westerville forward Ralph Hill in the 2010 class.

Get a Damn Center. A real center with some meat on his bones that can control the middle. Not these toothpicks that seem to make their way into the UD program.By Jordan

This recruiting class is shaping up to be a real good one. Brian Gregory is doing a good job of jumping on recruits who are hot and rising prosepcts before they start to look at others schools.By John

A-Center Say big boy why don’t you try out for the Flyers?By Dennis

I know what you mean about toothpicks. But,you have to first look at skills and build not weight when you have to start recruiting when kids are 14 or 15. Sometimes you can’t even tell how tall they will be!The weight and strengh either comes from the training room-or you picked wrong. If I remember right UD picked a 300 pounder three or four years ago-it didn’t turn out to well.By Mongoose

Kavanaugh and Benson will be perfectly fine. Berry will be an added plus for sure. I think we’ll get Payne too. We are preparing to fly for sure.By aflyer#22

Sure these guys can score over 6 foot high schoolers, but what about the bigger guys in the programs Dayton aspires to be included in? When are we going to get a truly gifted big man? Remember what Kansas did to us?By Don

Dayton has been exciting to watch since Brian has come on board as head coach. There is a reason for that, he maximises his talent search in a realistic manner. Seven foot, 300 lb centers do not come to play for the Flyers and never will.By Paul72

The UD wannabees will end up like last year…..A high seed in the NCAA’s (if you make it)because you don’t play anybody. Oh, I know you play in Puerto Rico but my prediction is that you will get blown out early. These recruits are second tier at best. If they were top guys Thad Motta would have been all over them. Go Bucs!By OSU please

Siena, Siena, Siena…. No one around UD basketball really cares what OSU is doing, so save yourself from getting on here and seeing what we’re all talking about. UD is now bringing in solid recruits for the 4th straight year. Berry and Staten’s strengths should blend into a great backcourt. Who know’s, if we get Spearman we could run a 3 guard O at times. I,m looking forward to watching this team over the next four years. They should be better each year, and I think our shooting issues are being resolved!By BigNard '91

I welcome Jesse and others. Looking for a center. He does not need to 300lbs now. I am a Personal Trainer, get me a 6’10” 250lms kid we can mold him! -“The Trainer”
