Gregory pleased recruits enjoyed team success
Dayton coach Brian Gregory sizes up his four-player recruiting class for 2010 …
Juwan Staten: “I think this past year (at Oak Hill Academy) was a great experience for him. I do think he really grew as a young man and as a player. He comes back May 22 and I’m sure will be playing with the guys on May 23. All the guys will welcome him back and I will, too.”
Devin Oliver: “I got to see him play in the (Michigan state) semifinals and was really pleased with his development over the year. He’s 6-7 and about 205. You talk about versatility, he’s a tremendous, tremendous passer.”
Brandon Spearman: “He was a monster (in tournament play). He raised his game to another level. He stepped up in his ability to score. He shot the ball well, and that’s a facet of his game that maybe we thought he’d need time to develop. But he’s developed it a little faster than we thought.”
Ralph Hill: “I do like what I saw in him. He’s got areas he needs to work on, but who doesn’t? He’s highly athletic, maybe more athletic than we originally thought, and he’s got the ability to shoot the ball.”
Oliver and Spearman won big-school state titles, while Staten was on a team that finished in the top-10 in the national rankings.
“You look at the success Juwan had and the two guys winning state championships coming in, I don’t think the importance of that winning attitude can be over-stated,” Gregory said. “Both Brandon and Devin were key guys and the driving force in their teams winning state championships, and that puts their confidence at a great high coming in.”

Dave, They are freshman and probably don’t know yet. UD graduates their kids so before you question their motives think about what you say. I wish we had Berry but give the university credit for sticking to their guns. High character players will win out in the long run. We are not Kentucky!
