Flyers get commitment from post player
Percy Gibson, considered Dayton’s top big-man target among seniors-to-be, made a verbal commitment to the Flyers today.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Detroit native averaged about 17 points and 11 rebounds as a junior last season and had scholarship offers from Southern Cal, Providence and Minnesota, according to his coach.
“In the end, the kid had to feel totally comfortable with the situation, and it was Dayton all the way,” Detroit Southeastern coach George Ward said.
The Flyers had two scholarships for the 2011 class and needed to land at least one post player. They identified Gibson as their No.1 priority.
“From the beginning, they were one of the first schools to recruit me, and ever since then it’s been like family,” Gibson said.

PG, get ready to bring your X-rated game. UD is definitely ready for an inside bruiser who will get down the court and play D. Spend time on visits with CW and DS. They talked the talk but also walked the walk and always put in extra time. Thier commitments were “pure”. GL. Play hard.

Awesome recruit, and it is so typical that some smart mouth loser OSU fan has to post their worthless opinion. Maybe if OSU could actually graduate an athlete in basketball or football, then OSU Observer could have some real pride in his Bucknuts.

So we are loser OSU fans huh?? UD doesn’t have a real football team, and OSU contends for National Titles and BCS Bowls year in and year out. UD basketball won the NIT, WOW!!!. The 2010 OSU recruiting class was one of the top 5 in the nation and we just had the “PLAYER OF THE YEAR!” Wake up and realize that there will never be any comparisons in athletics between the two schools coupled with the fact the graduation rates of both OSU sports is one of the highest in the league.

Welcome, Perry, Enjoy your yearly NIT experience because the closest UD will get to the NCAA, even with an expanded field, is hosting a play-in game.

When UD played OSU each year, UD won half the games…and usually @ Columbus…OSU discontinued the ‘freindly, in-state, mini-rivalry…HMMMMM….

OSU fans coming to a thread about a UD recruit tells you something about them. I can understand an X fan, but for an OSU fan, it is pretty sad.

Wish UD would cheat as well as Thad Matta so they could be in the hunt for the national championship each year. Wish UD had two million students so they could field a D-I football team like OSU.

Thad Matta cheating? Where the heck did that come from? Has he ever been accused of anything? Quit reaching… 2M students? 55K including all satellite branches. Jim Tressel doesn’t need 55K students to field a team…he picks who he wants and they in turn commit with the intent to play for a championship every year. The envy turns into hate, but guess what…you can’t do anything about it, so just embrace your state school and realize this is the way it is and always will be.

Hey, UD competes for Natl Titles too! Easy to compete. Not so easy to win. But OSU would know all about that, right? They have one more title than UD! Wow!

Awesome. According to Percy himself, the reason he chose ud was “because they afforded the luxury of being involved in the NCAA tournament every year (play in game) without the stress of actually playing in it.”
