French player visiting Dayton
Alexandre Gavrilovic, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward from Strasbourg, France, began a two-day visit at the University of Dayton today.
Gavrilovic, who played at IMG Academy in Florida, won a gold medal in the European Championships while playing as a 19-year-old on the French under-20 team last summer.
He signed a letter-of-intent with Providence in 2010 but was never admitted because of issues with his French academic transcript.
After being released by the Big East school, he returned to IMG and has been checking out a handful of colleges this spring.

way to be Doug back to back days of article on UD basketball. I dont want to push my luck, but how bout some more info on other recruits UD is targeting. Hope we get this guy and Gibson. Sure would be nice to have an inside game for once, plus that transfer guard from SIU who will easily fill Staten’s shoes. LETS GO UD and LETS GO ARCHIE

This is incredible news. I hope they don’t show him around Dayton; just get him to sign before he gets to Dayton.

This is perfect. The surrender to Xavier would be even more complete with a Frenchman giving up along with the other members of the team. The Flyer faithful could wave the French flag during the game. A white towel.

I hope no one writes about how Dayton is a dying city. If this recruit knows that Dayton is in deep doo-doo, he might not want to come to Dayton.

He’s French..they’re losers…he’d fit right in at U.D…and Dayton would be welcoming the type of person Dayton has become…a loser.

To Rudy and Give up, can’t you see how pathetic you are ? Let me guess, didn’t get in to UD or couldn’t afford it. Mommy wouldn’t let you borrow her car to go to the mall ? Get off this blog you tools.

I hate French people. They are obnoxious. My trip to Paris last winter was horrible.

If SMU offers Alexandre a scholarship, then he will go to SMU. No way he’d pick us over a big school like SMU.

If Alexandre was any good, he’d be going to a big school. He must be a horrible bball player if he is going to UD.

TO EVERYONE: You should all be ashamed of yourselves! These are some of the most INANE posts I have ever read in my life. Do you really not want a great prospect because he’s from France!? You’re making UD fans look terrible. Do YOUR COUNTRY some favors and 1) think before you speak and/or 2) don’t speak at all. Those of you knocking a kid because he’s French and GENERALIZING FRENCH PEOPLE is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. Most, if not all, of you probably don’t even know why you’re saying the things you’re saying. Uneducated idiots! For our sake, I hope Alexandre does commit to UD. We’d be lucky to have him.

To the people writing about how the French are losers. Dayton is one of the biggest dumps in the world. Any town in France is nicer than Dayton. The crappiest town in France is nicer than Dayton. Go eat at the Olive Garden you diabetic fatties. Viva la France
