Philmore chooses Xavier over Dayton
Towson transfer Isaiah Philmore has accepted a scholarship to Xavier, picking the Musketeers over Dayton, according to his former AAU coach.
The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Philmore, who also visited Missouri, was eighth in scoring in the Colonial Athletic Association as a sophomore last year with a 15.3 average and also pulled down seven rebounds per game.
“The success of the program was really intriguing for him,” said Duane Coverdale, Philmore’s former AAU coach who accompanied the player on his visits. “All the visits were very good, but Xavier has a lot to offer with the success of the program, being a consistent NCAA tournament qualifier and even going deep into it.”
Barring any unforeseen developments, recruiting for Dayton in the 2011 class has concluded. The Flyers signed 6-9 French forward Alexandre Gavrilovic and 6-4 Georgetown transfer Vee Sanford.
