Kavanaugh earns A-10 honor
Matt Kavanaugh, a junior center for Dayton, was named the Atlantic 10 co-player of the week today.
Kavanaugh had 20 points and nine rebounds in an 87-72 win over Xavier on Saturday in the Flyers’ only game of the week.
He’s the second UD player to win the A-10 honor. Point guard Kevin Dillard was recognized earlier this season.

Congratulations to Kavanaugh! I actually thought he should have been MVP of the UD-X game.

I agree with Dan B. I really thought that Kav did fantastic on Saturday. Not saying that KD didn’t do well and didn’t deserve recognition, but Kav was outstanding!!

Well deserved and earned. I’m hoping that we heard the last from the “white boys can’t jump” crowd and the rest of the critics. You don’t have to be a high jumper to be a good player. Congrats on a very well played week.

Way to go Kav !!! If I knew how to reach him, I’d send the above article to BG and ask him if he needed any help down there in Georgia Tech. I’d also tell him that you’re free throw percentage is around 85% in case any of his players down there need some instructions on how to make them, because he certainly couldn’t teach them how to make them when he was here.

I thought that Matt and Kevin both deserved the MVP. MK is doing a superb job inside and it is so nice see that he can score. I think Alex is going to develop into a great center that will be able shoot the ball well. BG’s record is 8-11. I am still don’t understand the foul shooting, why were we so poor in the last few years and now we are shooting lights which is great. So many games are won or lost at the FT line. Keep it up, great win, I am still savoring the victory! GO FLYERS!

We were lousy at the line because nobody was ever in the game long enough to stay in rhythm. Can’t run that ignorant style of ball weasel Gregory ran and expect consistency. Guys were hesitant and scared to make mistakes or they got yanked.

They are standing - - you just can’t see them. All cowards hide behind the keyboard. And I for one hope Kav continues to demonstrate his newfound aggressiveness on both ends of the court. Ahd I miss OSU Joe. He was so easy to slam!!!

Have watched Matty since he was a freshman at Centerville & he is reblooming as the season progresses. His offensive rebounding ferociousness is fun to watch!

The true MVP was an inside outside duo of MC and KD. When UD uses the inside outside game they are touch to beat. Archie, a little zone in key situations would get the attention of the other team. go Flyers
